Job Description:

To operate, monitor, and maintain the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and ensure efficient functioning of all utilities and mechanical systems. The role includes overseeing water treatment processes, maintaining equipment, performing routine inspections, and providing general maintenance support across the facility to ensure safety, compliance, and uninterrupted operations.

Key Responsibilities:

STP Operations & Monitoring

● Operate and monitor STP units including aeration tanks, clarifiers, filters, blowers, and pumps.

● Ensure treated water quality meets pollution control board standards.

● Check MLSS, DO levels, pH, chlorine levels, and TDS regularly.

● Record daily readings and maintain logbook documentation.

STP Maintenance & Upkeep

● Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on STP equipment.

● Clean tanks, screens, filters, membranes, and sludge drying beds as per schedule.

● Inspect and troubleshoot pumps, valves, motors, piping, and control panels.

● Ensure smooth functioning of dosing systems and blowers.

Waste Management & Compliance

● Manage sludge handling, drying, and disposal as per environmental regulations.

● Ensure adherence to PCB guidelines and maintain compliance documentation.

● Report any unusual odor, leaks, or malfunction immediately to reporting manager.

Utility & Facility Maintenance

● Assist in general facility maintenance (plumbing, electrical, pumps, motors, piping).

● Respond to breakdowns and support routine maintenance tasks.

● Ensure proper functioning of water supply systems, sump pumps, and drainage lines

Safety, Hygiene & Documentation

● Follow all safety protocols, PPE usage, and emergency procedures.

● Maintain daily operation reports, inspection records, and maintenance logs.

● Ensure STP premises are clean, hazard-free, and well-organized.

Coordination & Communication

● Coordinate with maintenance team, housekeeping, and management for operational needs.

● Report maintenance issues, equipment failures, and material shortages promptly.

● Support vendor coordination for major repairs or external maintenance work.

Qualification:

Education: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering

Experience: 2–5 years as STP Operator, Utility Technician, or Maintenance Technician

Preferred: Experience in hotels, hospitals, apartments, or industrial STP operations

Technical Competencies

· Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes

· Pump, motor, and blower operation

· Basic mechanical & electrical troubleshooting

· Water quality testing (pH, TDS, MLSS, DO, etc.)

· Preventive maintenance knowledge
