Key responsibilities

• Staff management: Supervise, lead, and train junior stewards, assign tasks, and create cleaning schedules.
• Operations and cleanliness: Oversee the daily cleaning of all kitchen areas, including dishwashing, back dock, and equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Inventory and supplies: Monitor and manage the inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and stock, and assist with ordering when necessary.
• Coordination: Liaise with other departments, such as kitchen, bar, and service staff, to ensure smooth daily operations and guest satisfaction.
• Maintenance: Identify and report any maintenance or repair needs within the stewarding areas.
• Quality control: Inspect and evaluate cleaning processes and outcomes to maintain high standards.

Qualifications and skills

• Experience: Several years of experience in a stewarding or hospitality role, with a proven track record in a leadership capacity.
• Education: A high school diploma is often the minimum, though a hospitality management degree can be beneficial.
• Leadership: Excellent leadership and team management skills are essential for supervising staff.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with staff and other departments.
• Problem-solving: The ability to work under pressure and resolve issues efficiently.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of health, safety, and sanitation regulations in a kitchen environment.
