Job Description

As a Senior TAM, you will be the strategic technical advisor and escalation point for enterprise customers, responsible for helping to drive our key customers to production. You will build trusted relationships with engineering and senior stakeholders, aligning CockroachDB s capabilities with the customer s long-term technical and business goals. This role demands deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and the ability to drive value across complex customer environments.

You Will

  • Serve as the senior technical liaison for high-value enterprise accounts, guiding them through advanced adoption, architectural design, and operational maturity with CockroachDB.
  • Partner with the Account Executive and Strategic CSM to develop strategic roadmaps and success plans that drive long-term value.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts across Sales, Product, Support, and Engineering to deliver an exceptional customer experience and advocate for customer priorities internally.
  • Own and lead resolution of critical escalations, coordinating efforts across technical teams and executive stakeholders to drive customers to production
  • Deliver advanced technical workshops, architecture reviews, and thought leadership sessions to customer teams.
  • Identify and drive upsell and expansion opportunities through deep understanding of customer environments and business needs.
  • Influence product development by providing structured feedback based on enterprise customer use cases and requirements.
  • Lead initiatives to develop tools, processes, and best practices that improve TAM operations and customer engagement at scale.

The Expectations

In your first 30 days: You will gain deep familiarity with CockroachDB and our enterprise customer base. You ll begin engaging with key accounts and participate in strategic planning sessions.
By 90 days: You will independently own a portfolio of complex enterprise accounts, serve as the primary strategic advisor, and lead initiatives across Customer Engineering.

You Have

  • 8+ years in customer-facing technical roles, with at least 3+ years in a senior TAM, Solutions Architect, or Strategic Support Engineering position.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and database technologies (CockroachDB, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical engagements and influence C-level and VP stakeholders.
  • Strong project and program management skills; PMP or similar certification is a plus.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated success in a high-growth, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members or leading teams is a strong plus.
Preferred:
  • Direct experience with CockroachDB or comparable distributed SQL databases.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or Go.
  • Deep familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP deployment models and best practices.
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare) is advantageous.
