Description
Lead proto activities including schematic creation, layout design, and selection of wires and connectors. Drive development and integration of switches, sensors, fuse boxes, relays, wire harnesses, lamps, and all low-voltage components. Participate in competitor benchmarking and implement best design practices. Responsible for schematic development, BOM finalization, DFMEA, and layout validation. Analyze technological trends, support product marketing, and vendor evaluation. Execute design and development of simple to complex wire harness systems. Conduct cross-functional reviews ensuring balance between cost, quality, and timeline. Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives and define roadmaps for continual improvement. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of wire harness architecture and schematic creation. Integration of safety and performance features into harness schematics. Experience supporting vehicle integration and resolving quality issues. Familiarity with AIS regulations, EMI/EMC considerations, crimping techniques, wire gauge selection, and IP67 standards. Hands-on experience with design tools: CATIA, AutoCAD, and schematic simulation tools. Working knowledge of CAD packaging of electrical components adhering to best practices. Basic understanding of signal protocols like CAN, LIN, I2C, SPI within wire harness design. Proficiency in proto trials, design iteration, and documentation management. Experience with testing rigs and fixtures for harness development and system-level verification. Understanding of risk estimation for new designs and implementing effective mitigation plans. Proficient with quality analysis tools for root cause investigation and corrective actions. Expertise in preparing engineering BOMs, cost estimation, and implementation feasibility assessments. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (CFTs) to ensure seamless electrical system integration. Monitor day-to-day tasks, track design process control, and review schedule adherence. Address aftermarket and assembly line issues through structured RCA and countermeasure actions. Support global benchmarking and apply kaizen practices to enhance product competitiveness. Behavioural Competencies: Effective team leader with a proactive, go-getter attitude.
