DGM / GM - R&D

Role & responsibilities:

• Lead end to end design and development of Electric Power Steering (EPS) systems.
• Define and manage concept design, DFMEA, DVP&R and CAD/CAE validation activities.
• Drive innovation, light weighting and design optimization initiatives.
• Ensure seamless integration of steering columns with vehicle platforms and OEM interfaces.
• Define, approve, and oversee validation and test plans for EPS steering systems.
• Ensure all durability, performance and environmental tests comply with OEM and international standards.
• Review and analyze test results, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Lead cross-functional project teams across design, testing, prototyping, and manufacturing.
• Manage multiple projects to meet QCD targets (Quality, Cost, Delivery).
• Act as the primary technical contact for OEM customers on steering column projects.
• Participate in technical reviews, APQP meetings, and customer audits.
• Ensure compliance with AIS, ISO, FMVSS, and ECE standards.
• Implement DFM/A, DFA, and value engineering practices.

Preferred candidate profile

• B.E / M.E in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering, 19 - 25 years of experience in automotive R&D, with at least 8+ years in steering (EPS) / chassis parts design & development.
• Lead design and development of EPS sub-systems, including mechanical housing, motor integration, torque sensor, and ECU packaging.
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams for ECU, motor control, and sensor integration.
• Review hardware schematics, ECU interfaces, and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, etc.) for system compatibility.
• Hands-on experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP and PPAP processes.
• Experience in testing, validation, and vehicle integration of steering systems.
• Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary R&D teams and manage multiple development programs.
• Experience in project planning, resource allocation and stakeholder communication.
