Key Responsibilities

Transformer Design:

• Perform electrical design and calculations for:
• Power Transformers (20 MVA to 50 MVA, up to 132/220 kV)
• Dry Type Transformers
• Distribution Transformers
• Develop designs for:
• Core and winding arrangement
• Insulation systems and dielectric clearances
• Tap changer selection (OLTC/DETC)
• Cooling systems (ONAN, ONAF, AN, AF)
• Prepare:
• Winding design sheets, loss calculations, impedance, temperature rise, short-circuit withstand, etc.
• Drawings: General arrangement (GA), schematic/wiring diagrams, and nameplates
• Bill of Materials (BOM) for core, windings, and accessories
  

Standards & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with international and Indian standards:
• IEC 60076, IS 2026, IEEE C57, ANSI, etc.
• Assist in documentation and execution of routine, type, and special tests
  

Coordination & Support

• Work closely with the mechanical design, production, testing, and quality teams
• Support the production team during transformer assembly for technical clarifications
• Interact with customers for technical clarifications, design approvals, and modifications
• Assist in resolving design-related issues during manufacturing or testing stages
  

Documentation & Tools

• Prepare and maintain all necessary technical documentation
• Use design and simulation software tools like AutoCAD Electrical, ELCAP, ANSYS, Maxwell, etc.
  

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering (M.Tech preferred)
• Experience: Minimum 8+ years in transformer design, with specific experience in 20–50 MVA Power Transformers and Dry/Distribution Transformers
• Technical Knowledge:
• Transformer losses and efficiency optimization
• Dielectric and thermal design
• Insulation coordination and creepage/clearance distances
• Familiarity with OLTC, bushings, tap changers, CTs/PTs, cooling systems
• Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, ELCAP, ANSYS, MATLAB, Maxwell (or equivalent)

• Good knowledge of transformer manufacturing processes
