Role Description

Unpaid Internship | Remote | 3-6 Month Commitment

We seek sports writer interns to create compelling content across football, basketball, cricket, and kabaddi. You'll research live events, draft data-driven match reports, update athlete biographies, and conduct virtual interviews while coordinating with our editorial team. This role includes structured mentorship in sports journalism techniques—including research methodologies, interview tactics, and SEO-optimized storytelling. Expect to produce 2-3 weekly articles (600-1,200 words) while receiving personalized coaching on transforming game-day passion into publishable content.

Key responsibilities include:

• Tracking statistics from sources like Opta (football), ESPNcricinfo (cricket), and NBA Sites
• Pitching weekly story angles on emerging narratives (e.g., NBA draft prospects, Football rumors)
• Collaborating via discord for editorial feedback and deadline management
• Developing "deep-dive" player profiles with career milestones and tactical analysis

Qualifications

Essential:

• Demonstrated expertise in football (global leagues/NT) + at least one: basketball (NBA/FIBA), cricket (ICC)
• Research proficiency beyond surface sources (official club data, StatsBomb, tournament archives)
• Ability to explain tactical nuances (e.g., cricket field placements, basketball zone defenses)

Preferred:

• Basic SEO understanding (keyword integration, meta descriptions)
