Position Title: Specialist, Strategic Business Planning

Job Purpose

  • This position exists to drive the strategic planning process and initiatives within Consumer Banking, ensuring alignment with overall bank objectives and market dynamics. The Specialist will be instrumental in identifying growth opportunities, optimizing business performance, and shaping the future direction of Consumer Banking through data-driven insights and actionable strategies.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement strategic frameworks and business plans for Consumer Banking, leading to sustained growth and competitive advantage.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and potential disruptions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of strategic initiatives against established KPIs, recommending adjustments as needed.
  • Contribute to the identification and assessment of new business models, product opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless execution of strategic priorities across various Consumer Banking units.

Job Duties & responsibilities

  • Lead the annual and long-term strategic planning cycles for Consumer Banking, including goal setting, initiative definition, and resource allocation.
  • Perform comprehensive financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making and evaluate potential business outcomes.
  • Prepare detailed business cases, presentations, and reports for senior management and stakeholders, articulating strategic recommendations and their potential impact.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and sales teams to translate strategic objectives into tangible initiatives and launch plans.
  • Analyze internal performance data, customer feedback, and external market intelligence to uncover insights and inform strategic adjustments.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and technological advancements relevant to Consumer Banking, assessing their strategic implications and recommending proactive measures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to gather diverse perspectives and foster strategic alignment.

Required Experience

2-4 years of experience in strategic planning, business development, management consulting, or a similar role within the financial services industry, preferably with a focus on Consumer Banking.

Education / Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field + CA / MBA.

  • Strong strategic thinking and conceptualization abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences.

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Deep understanding of the banking industry, with a focus on Consumer Banking products, services, and market dynamics.
  • Knowledge of internal and external regulations impacting the financial services sector.

Technical Competencies

  • Proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, financial software).
  • Strong computer knowledge, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word).

  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across departments and with various levels of management.
  • Proactive and takes initiative in identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities.
