Position Overview

The Product Development Manager Mattress Category will drive the end-to-end development, innovation, and performance management of the mattress portfolio. This role requires strong expertise in product design, market analysis, SKU performance planning, cost benchmarking, and competitive strategy to ensure the company’s mattress range remains market-leading and customer-centric.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Strategy & Roadmap

• Build and execute the product roadmap for the mattress category.
  
• Identify category gaps, emerging trends, technologies, and consumer insights that shape product direction.
  
• Ensure a balanced product mix aligned to business goals, pricing, and customer needs.
  

2. Competition Analysis

• Conduct detailed competitive benchmarking for product features, pricing, materials, and positioning.
  
• Evaluate competitor strengths and weaknesses to identify differentiation opportunities.
  
• Prepare monthly/quarterly analysis reports for leadership review.
  

3. RO SKU Performance Management

• Track performance of Royaloak mattress SKUs across stores and online platforms.
  
• Identify high-performing, low-performing, and aging SKUs and recommend actions for optimization.
  
• Collaborate with sales and store teams to collect feedback on product performance.
  

4. New Product Development (NPD)

• Lead the complete lifecycle from concept, material selection, prototyping, testing, and launch.
  
• Partner with R&D, manufacturing, and sourcing teams to create new foam, hybrid, latex, and orthopedic models.
  
• Ensure all new products reflect the latest comfort trends, ergonomic needs, and aesthetic improvements.
  

5. Cost Comparison – RO Mattress vs Competition

• Analyze cost structure for Royaloak mattresses and compare with industry competitors.
  
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising quality.
  
• Work with sourcing teams to ensure optimal material pricing and vendor competitiveness.
  

6. Trend Analysis & Market Insights

• Monitor industry trends related to sleep technology, materials, comfort layers, design innovations, and packaging.
  
• Conduct customer surveys, field visits, and retailer interactions to gather real-time market insights.
  
• Use insights to guide innovative product development and refresh strategies.
  

7. Innovation & Creativity

• Drive creative ideation for new concepts, features, and materials that elevate the product experience.
  
• Introduce innovative mattress designs, new comfort technologies, and enhanced visual aesthetics.
  
• Experiment with new fabrics, quilting patterns, foam technologies, and hybrid constructions.
  

8. Vendor & Manufacturing Coordination

• Work with vendors and manufacturing partners to ensure quality production.
  
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and identify potential new material/fabric sources.
  
• Ensure timely development of prototypes and production samples.
  

9. Quality Assurance & Testing

• Define testing standards and quality benchmarks related to firmness, durability, pressure relief, and comfort.
  
• Collaborate with QA teams to monitor defect rates and resolve quality issues.
  
• Ensure compliance with industry safety standards and certifications.
  

10. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with marketing teams on packaging, storytelling, product photoshoots, and catalogue content.
  
• Provide training to retail teams and store staff on product features and competitive strengths.
  
• Work closely with supply chain on demand planning, forecasting, and inventory management.
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Furniture Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  
• 5–10 years of experience in

  mattress, furniture, foam, textile, or comfort products

  .
• Strong understanding of foam technology, ergonomics, construction, and fabric selection.
  
• Experience in pricing, competitive benchmarking, and SKU performance analytics.
  
• Excellent project management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
