Roles and Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Automation

Create detailed 3D/2D CAD models and drawings for custom mechanical components and assemblies.
Automate repetitive design tasks using rule-based modeling techniques and scripting.
Integrate automation logic into CAD tools to support Engineer-to-Order (ETO) product variants.

ETO Configuration

Develop and maintain ETO configuration systems to support custom product engineering.
Define and implement product rules, constraints, and logic for configurable assemblies.
Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to convert customer requirements into accurate product configurations.

Software Development & Customization

Design and develop software tools using VB.NET, C#, or similar languages to support engineering workflows.
Create plug-ins, macros, and scripts to automate design tasks in tools like SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or Creo.
Develop user interfaces for internal tools that streamline ETO processes and product selection.

Integration & Data Management

Integrate configuration tools with PLM/ERP systems for seamless data flow (e.g., BOM, drawings, product specs).
Manage and update design libraries, templates, and configuration databases.
Ensure version control, change management, and data consistency across systems.

Collaboration & Documentation

Work closely with cross-functional teams (Design, Sales, Production, QA) to ensure project alignment.
Document automation processes, code, configuration logic, and design standards.
Provide training and support to internal teams on the use of configuration and automation tools.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency and reduce engineering lead time.
Implement feedback loops and update tools/configurations based on user input and field performance.
Stay updated with emerging technologies in CAD automation, ETO tools, and mechanical design best practices.
