Solar Design Engineer(Electrical)

Role Overview:

Responsible for electrical design, system sizing, and preparation of technical documents for solar EPC tenders and proposals. The role focuses on delivering accurate electrical drawings, BOQs, and compliance documentation supporting both rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. System Design & Engineering

• Prepare complete electrical designs including single line diagrams (SLD), cable layouts, earthing, and protection systems.
• Perform system sizing based on site capacity, inverter selection, and module configuration.
• Evaluate grid connection requirements and coordinate for load flow and fault level studies.
• Ensure designs meet IS/IEC standards, CEA guidelines, and DISCOM regulations.

2. Tender, Commercial & Proposal Support

• Review tender documents, technical specifications, and scope of work.
• Prepare technical bid submissions, data sheets, and drawings as per tender requirements.
• Generate BOQ and cost estimation inputs for pre-sales and proposal teams.
• Prepare deviation statements, compliance checklists, and clarifications for tenders.

3. Documentation & Coordination

• Work closely with structural and civil design teams for overall plant layout.
• Coordinate with procurement for technical specifications of electrical components (modules, inverters, transformers, cables, switchgear, LT/HT panels).
• Support project and site teams by providing approved drawings and clarifications during execution.
• Maintain drawing and document control in line with ISO standards.

4. Software & Tools

• Use design and simulation tools such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, ETAP, Excel, and Google Earth.
• Prepare cable sizing and voltage drop calculations using standard formulas or design software.

Skills & Competencies:

• Sound knowledge of solar PV system design (rooftop and ground-mount).
• Good understanding of electrical codes and standards (IS, IEC, IEEE).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and MS Excel.
• Strong attention to technical accuracy and detail.
• Ability to interpret client requirements and prepare compliant technical submissions.

Qualifications:

• B.E / B.Tech – Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• 3–6 years of experience in solar EPC design and tendering.
• Exposure to DISCOM connectivity, utility-scale, and C&I rooftop projects preferred.
