Role Context: The Project requires additional manpower with a strong grounding and background

in Sociology/Anthropology to be able to work with the local community, our partners in the region –

Garung Thuk, liaise with the village council as well as local stakeholders in order to eventually

mobilize and motivate the community to set aside land for conservation. The incumbent will need to

conduct/lead thematic studies and ensure engagement of local communities and other stakeholders

to facilitate evidence based decision making. The Officer-in-charge/ Head of the Forgotten Cats of

Seinthuk Project will also be managerially responsible to ensure the completion of all activities

envisaged under the project, production of all outputs planned and achievement of all outcomes.

This would be achieved by managing the human resources, budgets and liaising with the relevant

government and non-government stakeholders.


Key responsibilities:

1. Work closely with the local community and the village council to understand their needs and

aspirations and plan out interventions accordingly in order to build rapport and strengthen the

working relationship

2. Ensure implementation of project activities with the active involvement of team members in order

to achieve the outcomes and meet the impact

3.Assessment of the development needs of the project to achieve project impact and provide inputs

for the development of concept notes/proposals

4.Manage the project budget as per the approved Project Plan

5. Based on local liaising and community understanding, ideate new components in the project

which will be beneficial to the community as well as to achieve the impact

6.Collate and manage project related data in a proper format and share it with all the team members

7.Ensure maintenance of field station and proper use, maintenance and inventory of project

equipment and assets.

8.Liaise with government department officials, local NGOs and other key stakeholders/partners in

the region

9.Ensure statutory compliance relevant to the project, in coordination with the state facilitator and

HQ team

10. Implement assigned project activities in the PIP


Project Planning, Management and Monitoring:

1. Prepare the draft of the annual work plan in consultation with the team members

2.Review team members’ target every quarter and report to PI and DH on quarterly basis

3.Participate and present monthly progress of the project in the monthly review meetings

4.Conduct self-review of the project plan on quarterly basis and share the same with the DH/s to

facilitate quarterly review of the project

Fund & Financial Management

1.Responsible for budget management and booking of expenditure under appropriate activity head

for each donor

2.Ensure that the funds are utilized judiciously for achieving the anticipated outcome by

implementing appropriate activities

3.Approve, monitor and maintain records of the expenditures of the team members as per the policy

and procedures of WTI


Donor Co-ordination:

1.Provide timely update to the Donor Point Person/s of the project for reporting project progress and

deliverables to the donor

External Communication / Co-ordination

1.Interact with media on project related communication, prepare press notes / release on project

events, and represent the organization at appropriate forums.

2.Liaison with forest department, line departments, non-government organizations, academic

institutions etc. to facilitate project implementation and associated matters.


MIS & Reports:

1.Responsible for collection of quality data (both quantitative and qualitative) by the project team

for analysis and monitoring, validation of the primary data of the project, and maintaining and

sharing of the data with team members and HQ.

2.Organize and prepare donor reports keeping in mind the donor (CSR, Charities and Foundation,

Public funds) with appropriate primary analysis, and maps and figures.

3.The periodic reports and other regular updates, and photographs and video footages of the project

are shared with the Communication Division for appropriate communication and branding needs of

the project.

4.Ensure that the team members prepare manuscripts for scientific publication, following the

processes of approval of idea, analysis and selection of journal by the PI and Co-PI


Human Resources Management:

1.Ensure performance review of all team members, organise regular meetings to address grievances

and concerns and promote team building and capacity enhancement activities


Qualifications & Experience Required:

1. M.Sc./Ph.D in a social sciences discipline such as Sociology, Anthropology,

Development Studies.

2. At least 5-7 years’ of experience in the field of Community Based Natural Resource

Management and working in the NGO sector is desirable. Having prior work

experience on ground from the northeast will be a value addition.

3. In-depth knowledge and experience in sociological/anthropological tools and analysis

of data is a prerequisite

4. Working knowledge of at least one analytical software for sociological data analysis

like SPSS, R etc.

5. The candidate should be good in organising, prioritising, planning and coordinating

work between different stakeholders with attention to detail.

6. Prior experience in grant management, technical reporting and monitoring and

evaluation will be desirable

7. Ability to multi-task and work in a team-oriented, multi-

cultural environment.

8. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and working knowledge of

Hindi is desirable
