Job Description

Job Title: Site Engineer – Civil Construction

Department: Projects / Execution

Reports To: Project Manager / Senior Engineer / Director

Location: Project Site (as assigned)

Role Summary:

The Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing day-to-day site execution of civil construction activities, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery in accordance with the project specifications and drawings. The role demands coordination with contractors, vendors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure smooth progress on site.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Execution & Supervision

  • Supervise all civil works (excavation, RCC, brickwork, plastering, flooring, waterproofing, etc.) as per drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure all works are executed as per approved GFC (Good For Construction) drawings.
  • Monitor contractor teams and ensure labor productivity on site.
  • Verify levels, dimensions, alignment, shuttering, reinforcement, concrete pouring, and finishing works.
  • Resolve site execution issues and escalate major concerns to senior management.

2. Planning & Coordination

  • Prepare and follow daily/weekly execution schedules in line with overall project timelines.
  • Coordinate with procurement for timely delivery of materials.
  • Communicate regularly with architects, consultants, structural engineers, and vendors to resolve conflicts.
  • Ensure timely mobilization of labor, materials, and machinery.

3. Quality Assurance

  • Ensure quality checks at all stages of construction.
  • Maintain checklist-based quality control (RCC, blockwork, waterproofing, etc.).
  • Conduct regular inspections and testing (cube tests, slump tests, etc.).
  • Maintain site QA/QC records with photographs and documentation.

4. Measurement & Billing

  • Record daily material and labor consumption.
  • Verify contractor measurements and assist in preparing RA (Running Account) bills.
  • Maintain material reconciliation and wastage logs.

5. Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain daily site reports (work progress, hindrances, material stock, etc.).
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for review.
  • Document design deviations, changes, and site instructions.
  • Assist in preparing bar bending schedules (BBS), site quantity sheets, and DPRs.

6. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure that safety norms and PPE usage are strictly followed on site.
  • Report incidents/accidents immediately and maintain safety logs.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and permissions.

Key Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction practices
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings (architectural, structural, services)
  • Knowledge of quality standards (IS Codes, CPWD norms, etc.)
  • Site measurement & billing proficiency
  • Familiarity with construction materials and methods
  • Basic MS Excel / MS Project / AutoCAD knowledge

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BE/B.Tech/Diploma)
  • 2–5 years of experience in residential/commercial civil site execution

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
