The Shift Incharge will act as the second in line to the Warehouse Manager and is responsible for ensuring efficient and seamless operations across all shifts in the cold storage facility
The role demands hands-on involvement in temperature-sensitive products, inventory management, compliance, customer service, and overall warehouse administration The ideal candidate will be proactive, analytical, process-driven, and committed to safety and quality standards
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Inventory Management:
Efficient handling of temperature-sensitive (Frozen & Chilled) products while ensuring product integrity at all times
Monitor and control temperature parameters during all inward and outward product movements to ensure compliance with food safety norms
Oversee the complete management of the warehouse operations including inventory outflow, stock verification, and ensuring zero variance
Implement processes and systems that enhance productivity and operational efficiency
Analyze data to monitor operations, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement
Plan and execute clear macro and micro workloads at the start of each shift, considering attendance, volume, and special requirements
Ensure proper replenishment, cycle counts, and bin auditing for seamless operations
Manage distribution operations ensuring accurate stock levels and efficient dispatches
Lead the handling of facility infrastructure, office equipment, fixed assets, and ensure optimal allocation of resources including Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
Customer Engagement & Compliance:
Discuss and implement Customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensure high levels of communication as the single point of contact for all operations-related queries
Provide timely solutions and costings based on customer requirements across industry segments
Attend and implement outcomes of Service Performance Reviews with customers
Ensure adherence to customs and legal requirements for warehousing
Maintain zero complaints from customers, customs, or government authorities
Conduct periodical audits and submit reports with corrective actions and timelines to management
Ensure all customer agreements are strictly adhered to, with deviations permitted only through authorized approvals
Safety & Compliance:
Follow the highest safety standards without compromise, promoting a culture of safety throughout the shift
Support and observe all safety initiatives and strictly implement corrective and preventive actions
Handle housekeeping, waste disposal, and coordination with HSSE, Commercial, and Legal teams
Ensure all statutory regulations are followed, and audits are conducted with documented action plans
Financial & Strategic Management:
Monitor and calculate both Capex and Opex costs, optimizing resources and utilization
Benchmark productivity and streamline operations for efficient asset usage
Participate in budgeting, operational planning, and strategic initiatives for warehouse management
Team Leadership & Training:
Act as the second line of leadership under the Warehouse Manager, leading teams during shifts and ensuring smooth handovers
Mentor team members, facilitate training on systems, SOPs, and operational requirements
Ensure SOPs are updated and revised as per management directives
Qualifications:
Graduate (BE / BTech preferred) in any discipline
Minimum 5-7 years experience in warehouse operations management, preferably in cold storage, FMCG, or logistics sectors
Strong knowledge of WMS systems, GWP standards, inventory management, stock reconciliation, and food safety protocols
Hands-on experience with Excel, reporting tools, and warehouse systems
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
Ability to delegate effectively and manage operations with a result-oriented approach
Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decisions and continuous improvement
Proven ability to lead teams, plan workflows, and optimize capacity utilization
