Field Service Engineer

The Service Associate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and technical support of Leica Surgical Operating Microscopes (SOM) across various clinical and research applications. This includes Neurosurgery, ENT, Dental, Ophthalmology, and any other microsurgery procedures. The role involves pre- and post-sales demonstrations, customer training, and driving service revenue through AMC/CMC contracts, spare parts, and upgrades.

Associate reports to the Regional Service Manager.

Your Responsibilities

• Install and calibrate Surgical Operating Microscopes at hospitals, medical colleges, and research institutions
• Provide post-installation support including live surgical assistance and user training
• Attend breakdown calls and perform preventive maintenance
• Conduct pre- and post-sales demos to support business development
• Drive service revenue through AMC/CMC renewals, spare parts, and upgrades
• Maintain service documentation and customer records
• Coordinate with service managers and regional teams for efficient coverage
• Support installations and service calls in neighboring states and occasionally in East, North, and West India

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or Electronics & Telecommunication

Technical Proficiency:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and online service call logging platforms
• Basic understanding of Microsoft 365 applications such as PowerPoint, OneNote, and Teams for internal collaboration and reporting
• Familiarity with email writing etiquette, including clear subject lines, structured content, professional tone, and timely responses

Preferred Professional Experience:

• 3 to 5 years of practical experience in installing and servicing surgical microscopes or other microsurgery related hospital equipment.
• Exposure to clinical applications such as Neurosurgery, plastic, ENT and Ophthalmology
• Familiarity with life science or clinical research environments involving integration of digital cameras, PCs, monitors, and recording systems

Language Skills:

• Proficiency in English is essential
• Moderate to fluent communication skills in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu are preferred
