Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Steward is responsible for supervising and coordinating the stewarding team to ensure cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen and back-of-house areas. This role plays a critical part in maintaining food safety standards, organizing equipment, and supporting the culinary team with smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily stewarding operations and ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, and areas are cleaned and sanitized properly.
  • Allocate tasks to stewarding staff and monitor performance to maintain high hygiene standards.
  • Operate and oversee the use of dishwashing machines, pot wash areas, and cleaning tools.
  • Ensure the proper segregation and disposal of kitchen waste in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness in storage areas for kitchen equipment, chemicals, and tools.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Coordinate with the culinary and service teams for timely availability of clean dishes and utensils.
  • Report any maintenance issues or broken equipment to the concerned department.
  • Assist in training new stewarding staff on proper procedures and hygiene protocols.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and stewarding equipment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in kitchen stewarding, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or senior role.
  • Strong understanding of hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards (HACCP knowledge preferred).
  • Ability to lead a team and work under pressure.
  • Physically fit and able to handle a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic education (10th or 12th pass); vocational training in housekeeping or stewarding is a plus.
  • Certification in food safety or chemical handling (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Experience in hotels, banquets, or institutional kitchens.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹17,000.00 - ₹19,000.00 per month
