Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Role Overview

Senior SDET

test architecture, tooling strategy, and test coverage

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain an

    end-to-end automated test platform

    for real-time voice systems.
  • Develop and enhance

    SIP/RTP test drivers

    to simulate real-world VoIP traffic and call behavior.
  • Author automated test cases for

    functional, regression, performance, and interoperability

    scenarios.
  • Enable test execution across multiple environments including:
  • Developer workstations
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Kubernetes clusters
  • QA and interoperability labs
  • Integrate automation frameworks with

    GitLab CI

    and internal developer platforms (IDP).
  • Collaborate closely with

    DevOps, backend, and feature teams

    to ensure test coverage evolves with system changes.
  • Debug complex test failures involving distributed systems, networking, and real-time media flows.
  • Define and document

    test architecture, tooling standards, and coverage metrics

    .
  • Mentor junior SDETs and provide technical guidance on automation best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in

    test automation / SDET roles

    for complex backend or distributed systems.
  • Strong experience in

    designing or extending automated test frameworks

    .
  • Solid knowledge of

    VoIP and real-time communication protocols

    :
  • SIP, RTP, SRTP
  • Hands-on experience with

    Kubernetes-based deployments

    and troubleshooting in containerized environments.
  • Proficiency in one or more

    scripting or programming languages

    (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or similar).
  • Experience executing and managing tests across

    multiple environments

    (K8s, bare metal, local VMs).
  • Strong experience with

    Git

    and

    CI/CD pipelines

    , preferably

    GitLab CI

  • Good understanding of

    test orchestration

    , structured test design, and automation scalability.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience testing
