Senior Process Safety Engineer

As a Senior Process Safety Engineer at Apple's Environment and Supply Chain Innovation (ESCI) group, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe implementation and operation of emerging manufacturing technologies across the global supply chain. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading safety evaluations and analyzing hazards associated with emerging manufacturing technologies by collaborating closely with multi-functional teams to identify risks and develop effective hazard control strategies. - Conducting detailed process hazard analyses (PHA) such as HAZOP, FMEA, and QRA, and ensuring the implementation of appropriate safeguards. - Establishing methodologies for presenting and supervising corrective actions identified during the PHA process, including verification procedures. - Driving the scoping and implementation of engineering safety and hazard mitigation design strategies. - Developing and implementing robust safety and health hazard management programs that align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices. - Collaborating with engineering, operations, and EHS teams to ensure adequate control methods and considerations are integrated into project plans and operational procedures. - Designing and delivering training programs for employees and contractors to raise awareness of high hazard categories and promote a strong safety culture. - Challenging conventional supply chain, design, and feature rules to accelerate progress towards proactive safety solutions and work towards multi-functional implementation. - Ensuring high-quality results are delivered on time, taking ownership of issues and tasks with a sense of urgency and making difficult decisions when necessary. - Engaging constantly with ESCI program teams, communications, product design, material specialists, and automation systems authorities in a multi-functional capacity. - Collaborating with others across operations and procurement to leverage commercial opportunities within the supply chain. Qualifications required for this role include: - 7 or more years of EHS experience. - Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Occupational Safety, Process Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection Engineering, or related fields; advanced degree preferred. - Consistent experience in developing and managing process safety programs. Preferred qualifications for the Senior Process Safety Engineer position at Apple include: - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Strong project management skills, including leading multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously. - Proficiency in analyzing data and formulating strategic recommendations. - Experience in leading sophisticated programs, vendor management, and addressing multi-functional dependencies. - Background in the electronics industry, particularly in the supply chain. - Proficiency in Apple applications such as Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. - Knowledge of risk assessment tools and methodologies, development of effective management systems, and continuous improvement cycles. - Excellent communication and presentation skills. - Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to 10% of the time.
