Senior Manager/Manager - Coke Oven - E & I (Battery Section Incharge)

Role Objective:

Role Responsibilities:

1. Operations & Reliability

• Ensure uninterrupted functioning of

  battery heating systems, charging cars, pusher cars, coke guide, and quenching systems

  .
• Oversee operation of HT/LT substations, transformers, motors, switchgear, and power distribution systems dedicated to the battery area.
  
• Monitor and operate PLC/DCS/SCADA systems for oven heating, flue gas regulation, automation of coke pushing, and charging sequences.
  
• Ensure reliability of instrumentation – thermocouples, pressure/flow/level transmitters, gas analyzers, and draft measuring devices.
  

1. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of electrical & instrumentation systems in the battery section.
  
• Troubleshoot failures in motors, VFDs, PLC logic, heating control systems, and coke oven automation loops.
  
• Carry out root cause analysis of equipment failures and ensure corrective and preventive actions.
  

1. Automation & Process Control

• Maintain automation systems for

  oven heating control, pressure regulation, and interlocks for coke pushing/charging sequences

  .
• Work with OEMs/vendors for PLC/DCS/SCADA modifications, software upgrades, and automation improvements.
  
• Support process optimization for energy efficiency and emission control.
  

1. Project Execution & Upgradation

• Support commissioning, revamping, and modernization of

  battery heating systems, automation controls, and power systems

  .
• Implement energy-efficient projects like VFD drives, regenerative systems, and emission-reduction technologies.
  
• Drive digitalization/Industry 4.0 initiatives for predictive monitoring and data-driven reliability improvements.
  

1. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with

  OH&S standards, electrical safety practices, and statutory requirements

  for coke oven operations.
• Enforce LOTO, risk assessments, and safe work practices during E&I activities.
  
• Ensure adherence to ISO certifications (9001, 14001, 45001, 50001).
  

1. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain equipment history, calibration data, downtime logs, and maintenance records in SAP/CMMS.
  
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly performance and reliability reports for the battery E&I section.
  
• Support audits, statutory inspections, and environmental compliance documentation.
  

1. Team Leadership & Coordination

• Lead engineers, supervisors, and technicians assigned to the battery section.
  
• Coordinate with operations, mechanical, and production teams to ensure seamless coke oven operations.
  
• Train and mentor team members in troubleshooting, safety, and automation skills.
  

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong expertise in

  coke oven battery section E&I systems

  – heating, charging/pushing cars, quenching systems.
• Hands-on experience with

  PLC/DCS/SCADA (Siemens, ABB, Allen Bradley, etc.)

  .
• Knowledge of

  gas analyzers, thermocouples, pressure transmitters, and emission control instrumentation

  .
• Proficiency in troubleshooting HT/LT systems, transformers, switchgear, motors, and drives.
  
• Leadership, problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination skills.
  
• Commitment to

  safety, energy efficiency, and environmental compliance

  .

Qualifications & Experience:

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering.

• 10–15 years of Experience in E & I Coke Oven Plant.
  
• Hands-on commissioning, operation, and modernization experience in

  coke oven battery systems

  .
• Familiarity with SAP/CMMS, ISO systems, and statutory safety/environmental standards.
