Position Name:

Role Objective:

mill area (roughing, intermediate, pre-finishing)

Role Responsibilities:

1. Operations & Reliability

• Ensure smooth functioning of drives, motors, transformers, and power distribution systems in the mill area.
  
• Monitor and control PLC/DCS/SCADA systems for roughing, intermediate, and pre-finishing stands.
  
• Oversee instrumentation for mill speed, tension, load, and temperature monitoring.
  

1. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules.
  
• Troubleshoot faults in digital drives, motors, encoders, PLC logic, and field instrumentation.
  
• Minimize downtime through quick restoration and root cause corrective actions.
  

1. Automation & Process Control

• Ensure synchronization of mill stand drives and interlocks with upstream and downstream equipment.
  
• Maintain automation systems for shear, loopers, descalers, and auxiliary devices in the mill area.
  
• Work with OEMs/vendors for automation fine-tuning and software modifications.
  

1. Safety & Compliance

• Enforce electrical safety practices, OH&S standards, and LOTO procedures.
  
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, 50001).
  
• Conduct safety awareness and technical training sessions for the E&I team.
  

1. Project Execution & Modernization

• Support installation, commissioning, and revamping of mill stand drives, PLCs, and instrumentation.
  
• Implement energy-efficient solutions and digitalization initiatives (Industry 4.0 / IIoT).
  
• Lead small-scale automation improvement projects in the mill area.
  

1. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain calibration, maintenance, and downtime records in SAP/CMMS.
  
• Prepare technical reports on equipment health, energy usage, and reliability trends.
  
• Provide inputs for long-term spares planning and budgetary requirements.
  

1. Team Leadership & Coordination

• Supervise and guide engineers, supervisors, and technicians in the mill section.
  
• Coordinate with operations, mechanical, and utility teams for seamless rolling operations.
  
• Mentor team members on troubleshooting and advanced maintenance techniques.
  

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong expertise in

  Wire Rod Mill E&I systems

  roughing, intermediate & pre-finishing stands.
• Hands-on knowledge of

  digital drives, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems (Siemens / ABB / Allen Bradley)

  .
• Experience with

  loopers, shears, descalers, stand drives, and tension control systems

  .
• Proficiency in handling HT/LT motors, encoders, load cells, and process instrumentation.
  
• Strong troubleshooting, decision-making, and leadership skills.
  
• Focus on safety, energy conservation, and reliability improvements.
  

Qualifications & Experience:

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering.

• 10–15 years of experience in Electrical & Instrumentation in Wire Rod Mill .
  
• Hands-on commissioning and revamping experience in mill stand drives and automation systems.
  
• Knowledge of SAP/CMMS and ISO compliance preferred
