Role Responsibilities:

  1. Operations & Process Reliability

  • Ensure reliable functioning of high-speed finishing block drives, laying head, pinch rolls, loopers, and coil handling equipment.
  • Monitor and control PLC/DCS/SCADA systems for mill speed synchronization and automation interlocks.
  • Ensure accuracy of instrumentation for speed, load, temperature, and tension control in the high-speed area.
  1. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of drives, motors, field instruments, and automation systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in high-speed rolling motors, digital drives, encoders, and sensors.
  • Ensure quick fault restoration with root cause analysis to reduce downtime.
  1. Automation & Process Control

  • Maintain and fine-tune automation systems for loopers, shears, laying head, pinch rolls, and conveyors.
  • Collaborate with vendors/OEMs for software logic modifications, drive tuning, and automation improvements.
  • Implement advanced monitoring systems for real-time performance optimization.
  1. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OH&S, electrical safety protocols, and LOTO practices.
  • Adhere to ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, 50001).
  • Conduct safety training for engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
  1. Project Execution & Upgradation

  • Support modernization and revamping of high-speed rolling equipment drives and automation.
  • Implement energy-efficient and digital technologies (Industry 4.0 / IIoT) in WRM.
  • Coordinate with OEMs for commissioning and optimization of new systems.
  1. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain records of drive parameters, calibration data, and maintenance logs.
  • Prepare daily and monthly performance and downtime reports.
  • Use SAP/CMMS for tracking maintenance history and planning.
  1. Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and mentor engineers, supervisors, and technicians in the high-speed section.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, operations, and utilities teams for uninterrupted mill operations.
  • Provide technical training for skill enhancement in high-speed area systems.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong expertise in

    high-speed Wire Rod Mill E&I systems

    .
  • Hands-on knowledge of

    digital drives, PLCs, SCADA, and automation systems

    (Siemens / ABB / Allen Bradley).
  • Familiarity with

    loopers, laying head, pinch rolls, shears, cooling conveyor, and coil handling systems

    .
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting HT/LT motors, encoders, sensors, and field instruments.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • High focus on safety, energy efficiency, and reliability.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering.

  • 1015 years of relevant experience in E&I in Wire Rod Mill.
  • Hands-on experience in commissioning and automation of finishing blocks and coil handling systems.
  • Exposure to SAP/CMMS and ISO systems preferred
