Role Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Planning Define long-term vision and strategy for E&I operations in the Coke Oven & By-Product Plant. Develop and implement modernization, digitalization, and automation roadmaps. Plan budgets, manpower, and resources for E&I systems, balancing cost and reliability. Operations & Maintenance Ensure uninterrupted functioning of electrical and instrumentation systems in: Coke Oven batteries (charging, pushing, heating, and quenching systems) Coke Dry Quenching (CDQ) / Wet Quenching units By-Product recovery units (tar, ammonia, benzol, sulphur recovery plants) Gas handling and cleaning systems Conveyors, material handling, and pollution control equipment Substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems Lead preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs to maximize uptime. Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and automation failures quickly. Automation & Process Control Manage and upgrade PLC/DCS/SCADA systems for Coke Oven & By-Product operations. Introduce advanced control strategies for energy management, emission monitoring, and process efficiency. Integrate process instrumentation with environmental monitoring and compliance systems. Project Management & Technology Upgradation Lead E&I design review, specification finalization, vendor evaluation, and commissioning for new projects. Drive modernization, retrofitting, and automation upgrades in Coke Oven & By-Product Plant. Implement Industry 4.0 technologies such as IoT-enabled monitoring, predictive maintenance, and data analytics. Safety, Environment & Compliance Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, factory safety norms, and electrical safety codes. Implement ISO management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001). Monitor and maintain environmental compliance through online monitoring instrumentation. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and implement corrective actions. Energy & Cost Optimization Monitor and optimize power consumption in Coke Oven heating, CDQ/Wet Quenching, and by-product recovery operations. Implement power factor improvement, demand management, and energy-efficient solutions. Control O&M expenses, spares consumption, and procurement costs. People & Team Leadership Lead, develop, and motivate a team of managers, engineers, and technicians. Build technical competence through structured training programs and exposure to new technologies. Foster a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement. Stakeholder Coordination Collaborate with Production, Mechanical, Utilities, Projects, and Corporate E&I teams for seamless plant operations. Manage contractors, OEMs, and service partners for reliable execution of E&I tasks. Represent the E&I function in audits, reviews, and senior management meetings. Key Competencies & Skills Required: Strong technical expertise in Coke Oven plant systems batteries, CDQ, gas handling, and by-product recovery. In-depth knowledge of HV/MV/LV electrical systems, transformers, substations, and protection systems. Hands-on knowledge of instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level, gas analyzers, emission monitors). Expertise in PLC/DCS/SCADA (Siemens/ABB/Allen Bradley) and automation integration. Proven leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. Strong orientation towards safety, environment, and sustainability. Qualification & Experience: Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering (PG in Automation/Power Systems preferred). Experience: 16 to 22 years Experience in Coke Oven Plant.
