The Docusign AI team is seeking an experienced and driven engineering leader to build and enhance its machine learning platform and infrastructure. This role is crucial for developing industry-leading Document AI products that leverage extensive text and image data, along with advanced computer vision and natural language models. You'll support the entire machine learning lifecycle, from research to scalable deployment, empowering a global team of machine learning engineers and data scientists. Join us in pioneering the Smart Agreement Cloud, simplifying contract processes and providing automated expertise to customers worldwide. This position is part of the Core AI platform team, collaborating with colleagues across the Bay Area, Seattle, and Europe.
This position is a people manager role reporting to the Director of Machine Learning Engineering.

Be the Engineering leader responsible for executing on our product roadmap using agile practices and will champion the culture, processes, and tools required to maintain a frictionless high quality development environment

Design distributed systems at scale with enterprise-grade security and reliability

Drive testing, releases, and monitoring of machine learning based products

Enable team productivity through correct processes, automation, and reviews to enforce high quality and maintainable code across the platform

Collaborate with Applied Science and Product teams to establish requirements and timelines for successful product delivery

Work collaboratively across different time zones and geographies

Develop highly scalable and reliable machine learning infrastructure that can support efficient model inference, training, and data telemetry collection

Build vital tools and infrastructure to monitor and understand the performance of complex systems
Hybrid:
Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

12+ years of combined software development and management experience across at least 3 languages or paradigms, and frameworks or equivalent experience

8+ years of hands on software development or equivalent experience

Experience designing/building/consuming RESTful and gRPC based web-services

Experience with CI/CD build pipelines, integration testing, unit testing, and test-driven development

Familiarity with cloud deployment technologies, such as Kubernetes or Docker containers

Experience with highly scalable, high-volume distributed systems and services with top-tier resiliency, availability, and performance

Experience building machine learning products, data pipelines, or machine learning training and deployment systems

Experience with deployment and monitoring of machine learning models

Ability and desire to move across technology stacks fluently and easily

Strong people management skills, including coaching, mentoring, and leading technical teams
