Senior Manager - SMS -E & I (EAF/LF/VD/HM/RMHS)

Position Name:

Role Objective:

Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation systems

Role Responsibilities:

1. Operations & Reliability

• Ensure uninterrupted operation of electrical and instrumentation systems in

  EAF, LF, VD, HM transfer, and RMHS

  .
• Oversee transformers, HT/LT motors, switchgear, VFDs, power distribution, and harmonic controls.
  
• Monitor PLC/DCS/SCADA for furnace, ladle refining, vacuum degassing, material charging, and hot metal handling operations.
  
• Ensure availability of instrumentation including temperature, pressure, level, load cells, oxygen flow meters, and analyzers.
  

1. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance schedules.
  
• Troubleshoot failures in furnace transformers, electrode regulation systems, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and automation loops.
  
• Minimize downtime with effective fault diagnosis and root cause corrective action.
  

1. Automation & Process Control

• Manage automation systems for

  EAF electrode regulation, LF/VD refining processes, HM transfer, and RMHS charging systems

  .
• Ensure synchronization of interlocks and logic for safe and smooth operation.
  
• Collaborate with OEMs/vendors for software modifications, SCADA upgrades, and process optimization.
  

1. Project Execution & Upgradation

• Lead commissioning and modernization of furnace transformers, drives, PLC/DCS systems, and instrumentation.
  
• Implement energy-efficient technologies, power factor improvements, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  
• Drive automation improvement projects in furnace and material handling systems.
  

1. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure strict compliance with OH&S regulations, electrical safety codes, and LOTO procedures.
  
• Adhere to ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, 50001).
  
• Conduct safety training, risk assessments, and incident reporting within the E&I team.
  

1. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain equipment health records, calibration data, and maintenance history in SAP/CMMS.
  
• Prepare downtime analysis, energy consumption reports, and system reliability KPIs.
  
• Ensure documentation for audits, statutory inspections, and certifications.
  

1. Team Leadership & Coordination

• Lead a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians across EAF, LF, VD, HM & RMHS areas.
  
• Coordinate with operations, refractory, mechanical, and process control teams for seamless production.
  
• Drive skill development and technical training initiatives within the E&I team.
  

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong expertise in

  EAF, LF, VD, Hot Metal Handling & RMHS E&I systems

  .
• In-depth knowledge of

  furnace transformers, electrode regulation, vacuum pumps, gas analyzers, and refining process instrumentation

  .
• Hands-on experience with

  PLC/DCS/SCADA (Siemens, ABB, Allen Bradley, etc.)

  .
• Proficiency in handling HT/LT systems, digital drives, harmonic filters, and control circuits.
  
• Strong troubleshooting, decision-making, and leadership skills.
  
• Commitment to safety, energy efficiency, and system reliability.
  

Qualifications & Experience:

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering.

• 10- 12 years of relevant experience in Electrical & Instrumentation in SMS.
  
• Hands-on commissioning and modernization experience in

  EAF, LF, VD, HM, and RMHS systems

  .
• Familiarity with SAP/CMMS, ISO standards, and energy management systems.
