Job Description

As an experienced operations leader with a specialization in underwriting, you will be responsible for overseeing and driving a high-performing team. Your role will involve managing day-to-day underwriting operations, ensuring adherence to SLAs, improving productivity, and fostering continuous enhancement within the teams. You will lead and supervise underwriting operations across multiple teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes within specified SLAs and TATs. Developing and executing strategic plans to optimize team performance, capacity planning, and resource utilization will be a crucial part of your responsibilities. Monitoring underwriting decisions to ensure compliance with client guidelines and regulatory standards will also be a key aspect of your role. Collaborating with quality, training, and compliance teams will be necessary to drive accuracy, reduce error rates, and analyze process gaps. Implementing improvement initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies will be essential in enhancing operational efficiency. Effective communication and coordination between cross-functional teams and external stakeholders will also be a part of your responsibilities. Your role will involve reviewing and interpreting underwriting data and trends to provide valuable business insights and recommend operational strategies. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting performance reviews, governance reporting, client presentations, managing escalations, mentoring managers and team leads, and fostering a culture of accountability within the team. Maintaining operational compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and client-specific requirements will be a critical aspect of your role. Demonstrating a deep understanding of underwriting processes, particularly in mortgage, loan, or insurance sectors, will be essential. Your strong leadership and team management skills in a high-volume operations environment will be crucial for success in this role. Moreover, your ability to make decisions in complex underwriting scenarios, proficiency in workflow management, reporting tools, and operational metrics, as well as excellent communication, client management, and stakeholder engagement skills, will be highly valued. Experience in process improvement, automation, change management, and familiarity with quality tools such as RCA and Pareto will be advantageous. To qualify for this role, you should hold a Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field. A total of 12 years of experience, with at least 6 years in underwriting operations leadership, is required. Experience in US/UK/AU mortgage or financial underwriting processes will be preferred. Certification in Six Sigma, PMP, or similar methodologies will be an added advantage for this position.,
