Job Description

Elevate is seeking a highly skilled Patent Drafting Lead to join us as Senior Manager to join our Engineering team, with strong expertise in preparing and reviewing patent applications, particularly for US and European (EP) jurisdictions. The role involves managing in-house patent drafting projects, guiding engineering drafters, and collaborating closely with attorneys and clients to ensure high-quality, enforceable patent applications.

Specially, the Senior Manager will

Draft and review patent applications for US and EP filings across engineering and technology domains.
Collaborate with inventors, R&D teams, and clients to capture technical disclosures accurately and strategically.
Ensure compliance with USPTO, EPO, and PCT drafting standards and formal requirements.
Lead and mentor the in-house drafting team, setting best practices for consistency and quality.
Coordinate with attorneys and clients to align patent claims with business and IP strategy.
Assist in preparing Office Action responses (technical input, claim amendments, and arguments) in collaboration with attorneys.
Educate and guide clients with non-IP backgrounds (engineers, researchers, SMEs, startups) to help them understand patentable subject matter, novelty requirements, and drafting strategies.
Maintain quality assurance in patent drafts prepared internally before filing.
Support IP strategy discussions by providing technical and legal insights.
Reduce reliance on outsourcing by building strong in-house drafting capabilities.

Experience

5 to 8 years experience in patent drafting, with proven expertise in US and EP applications.
Strong understanding of patent laws, drafting guidelines, claim construction, and Office Action practices for US/EPO.
Experience in working with international IP law firms, corporations, or service providers.
