Job Description

Role Overview: As a Senior Hardware Engineer at our startup product development firm, you will be responsible for developing innovative solutions at the system level and conducting detailed electronic design work. This client-facing role will provide you with the opportunity to collaborate with world-class engineers to create novel products that push boundaries and may not yet exist in the market. Key Responsibilities: - Design, analyze, and validate electrical hardware, including integration with complex mechanical components, for low volumes through mass production. - Manage, mentor, and direct cross-disciplinary teams to conduct research, brainstorm, prototype, test, analyze, document, and present work to clients; guide teams to secure follow-on work. - Share insights on potential new client opportunities, provide technical support for business development, and devise strategies to meet project and client goals. - Implement design changes to enhance product reliability, reduce costs, and improve performance while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. - Conduct prototyping, debugging, and analysis using standard lab equipment and techniques. - Perform schematic capture and PCB layout of electrical circuits for mass production using CAD and simulation tools like Altium/KiCAD and SPICE. - Maintain comprehensive documentation of design changes, test results, and validation processes. - Support manufacturing and supply chain activities, including developing partnerships with part manufacturers and CMs, selecting and managing external contractors, qualifying suppliers, developing functional tests, and guiding the design of automated electrical test platforms. - Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally to partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (Master's degree is a plus) with 7 to 10 years of experience developing complex, technical, and integrated products. - Experience in solving challenging problems within areas like mechatronics, structural design, dynamics, thermal engineering, fluid dynamics, optics, controls, acoustics, precision mechanical systems, product engineering, and design for manufacturing. - Proficiency in at least three of the following areas: analog design, high-speed digital design, power electronics, wireless power transfer, RF design, antennas, motor control, and instrumentation. - Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing environments, process validation, reliability testing, and lab equipment. - Exposure to the full product lifecycle, managing overseas vendors, and excellent communication skills. - Strong problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and a passion for self-directed learning.
