Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

This role will involve analyzing existing products, identifying cost-saving opportunities, enhancing performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards while maintaining product quality and functionality. The engineer will work cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to implement innovative cost-reduction strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product development &VA/VE

Lead value engineering initiatives in consumer lighting products to optimize cost, material efficiency, and performance.
Use simulation tools for design validation and use the same for design optimization.
Analyze product designs and identify opportunities to reduce costs through design modifications, material substitutions, and process improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality, to implement cost-effective solutions without compromising performance and compliance.
Conduct benchmarking of competitive products and industry trends to identify potential cost-saving techniques.
Utilize Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to improve manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
Work closely with suppliers to explore alternative materials and components that offer better cost-effectiveness.
Develop and validate prototypes to test design changes for cost optimization.
Ensure all modifications meet regulatory and industry standards (UL, CE, RoHS, etc.).
Document engineering changes and maintain records of value engineering projects.
Provide technical expertise in cost analysis, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for proposed design modifications.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and drive innovation in product design and development.
