Job Description

About the company for Stolt Nielsen:

Stolt-Nielsen is a family-founded global leader in bulk-liquid and chemical logistics, transportation, and storage, known for its commitment to safety, service excellence, and innovation. At the Stolt-Nielsen Digital Innovation Centre, we bring this legacy into the future — building smarter systems, driving digital transformation, and shaping what's next for the world of logistics. Here, you’re encouraged to think boldly, challenge convention, and help move today’s products toward tomorrow’s possibilities.

About the Role:

As the Data Governance Lead, you will own and drive Stolt-Nielsen’s enterprise approach to Master Data Management (MDM), data quality, cataloguing, and data lineage. Your mission is to ensure our core data — such as customers, vendors, products, assets, and other shared domains — is trustworthy, governed, documented, and reusable across business units and platforms.

Your strongest focus will be to (further) implement and optimize Reltio Enterprise MDM, collaborating closely with business stakeholders (data stewards and data owners), and data engineering teams. You combine tool knowledge and configuration expertise with a strong understanding of data stewardship processes, policies, and operational workflows.

This is a hands-on, pragmatic role with strong influence: you help shape how we govern data across Stolt-Nielsen, while supporting our journey towards a world-class data ecosystem in Databricks, Unity Catalog, and enterprise analytics platforms.

At Stolt-Nielsen, we take Digital seriously. We invest in our teams through training and mentoring and enable them with the required tools to work in a modern way. As we are further building up our engineering practice, there is ample room for you to contribute, take initiative and shape the future of our ways of working and technology landscape.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and evolve enterprise data governance practices, focusing primarily on Master Data Management (MDM).
  • Own and configure Reltio MDM capabilities — match/merge rules, survivorship logic, hierarchy management, workflows, security, and integrations.
  • Establish and maintain data governance policies, data standards, data quality rules, and operational stewardship workflows.
  • Facilitate collaboration with data owners, data stewards, and business SMEs, driving consensus across domains.
  • Define and monitor data quality KPIs, metrics, remediation workflows, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement and improve data catalogue and lineage visibility, working with tools such as Reltio, Unity Catalog, and enterprise metadata tools.
  • Work closely with data engineering and DevOps teams to ensure proper integration, data pipelines, and deployment processes for governed data.
  • Ensure governance frameworks support delivery; champion pragmatism and value-driven governance.
  • Lead information modelling activity for shared data domains (e.g., customer, product, supplier).
  • Act as an advisor for product teams needing reliable master data and federated governance practices.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Hands-on experience with Reltio Enterprise MDM, ideally including configuration, rule logic, and operationalizing workflows.
  • Strong understanding of master data domains, business processes, data modelling, hierarchies, and identity resolution.
  • Mastery of data governance concepts such as stewardship, data ownership, metadata practices, data quality management, and lineage.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with ability to facilitate discussions between business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Pragmatic mindset: knowing when governance should be strict vs. lightweight, keeping business value at the centre.
  • Comfortable collaborating in engineering-centric environments and participating in architecture and data platform discussions.

Must Have Skills:

  • Proven enterprise experience working with Reltio MDM (configuration strongly preferred).
  • Ability to model master data domains, define data standards, and drive adoption with business stakeholders.
  • Experience working closely with data engineering teams on integration, API usage, or pipeline requirements.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.

Nice to have skills:

  • Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog or other enterprise data catalog/lineage tools.
  • Familiarity with data engineering, SQL, and BI visualization (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Certification in MDM, data governance, or data management (e.g., DAMA, Reltio certifications).
  • Knowledge of integration patterns, identity resolution logic, or event-driven MDM.
  • Experience supporting federated or multi-business-unit data governance models.
