Position Title: Senior Backend Developer

Role Overview

The Senior Backend Developer will design and implement backend

services powering the Purvaj portals. This includes building APIs in

FastAPI and Spring Boot, managing multi-role access flows, enabling real-

time and offline sync, and ensuring high scalability for heritage data,

rituals, and marketplace services.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement APIs for user, heritage guide, and service

provider portals.

• Build robust authentication and role-based access (User, Heritage

Guide, Service Provider, Admin) with Keycloak OIDC.

• Implement booking, payment, earnings, vault, and family tree APIs.

• Design and optimize schemas in PostgreSQL 16 with Row-Level

Security, plus PostGIS for geospatial data.

• Experience in graph DB Exp with Cypher query optimization and

graph data modelling.

• OCR integration experience - post-processing OCR outputs, handling

low-quality scanned documents

• Deliver real-time updates (ritual status, bookings, notifications).

• Implement offline sync APIs with retry and queue mechanisms

(Celery + Redis).

• Integrate services through Kong API Gateway with proper routing

and policies.

• Build search/vector integrations with OpenSearch (k-NN).

• Handle streaming and event-driven flows with Apache Kafka.

• Manage media workflows with S3/DigitalOcean Spaces, CloudFront,

and imgproxy.

• Ensure deployments via Terraform and Kubernetes (EKS, HPA, blue-

green & canary strategies).

• Implement financial workflows: split payouts, GST invoice

generation, reconciliation via Kafka.

• Enforce PII protection: AES field-level encryption with AWS KMS,

secret management in AWS Secrets Manager/SSM.

• Write unit/integration tests and CI/CD pipelines for production

readiness.

Requirements

• 7+ years in backend development with Python

(FastAPI/Flask/Django) and Java (Spring Boot).

• Expertise in PostgreSQL (schemas, migrations, optimization), with

knowledge of PostGIS and ClickHouse.

• Experience with microservices, event-driven systems, and API-first

design.

• Strong knowledge of queues and background processing (Kafka,

Celery, Redis).

• Familiarity with authentication (OIDC/JWT) and Kong gateway

policies.

• Proven delivery of high-scale portal backends with offline-first

support.

• Bonus: Experience with financial/payment systems (Razorpay,

Stripe) and multi-cloud setups.

• Prior experience in Product Development shall be preferred.

• Proven experience in Backend development of B2C Portals preferred.
