Job Description

As a Medical Planning Architect, you will be responsible for the strategic design and planning of healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, and medical campuses. You will lead or assist in translating medical operational workflows into functional, compliant, and efficient facility layouts. This role requires strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, clinical operations, patient-centric design, and healthcare infrastructure planning.

Key Responsibilities (KRA):

1. Medical Facility Planning:

  • Develop functional space programs based on client needs, medical specialties, and regulatory standards.
  • Create conceptual, schematic, and detailed layouts of medical departments (e.g., OPD, OT, ICU, ER, Radiology, Labs).
  • Collaborate with hospital consultants to integrate medical equipment and workflow into designs.

2. Design Development & Coordination:

  • Work with architectural and MEP design teams to integrate medical planning into overall project designs.
  • Ensure design compliance with local health codes (e.g., NABH, NBC, FGI, AIA Guidelines).
  • Coordinate with clinicians, hospital administrators, and user groups to validate spatial requirements.

3. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight:

  • Ensure all healthcare designs meet statutory and licensing requirements (local and international).
  • Prepare documentation for approvals related to healthcare facility licensing.

4. Stakeholder Management:

  • Liaise with hospital management, clinical heads, biomedical teams, and contractors.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and workshops.

5. Project Management Support:

  • Support project timelines, deliverables, and design milestone reviews.
  • Assist in budgeting estimates for healthcare areas and medical equipment planning.

6. Quality & Innovation:

  • Promote evidence-based design and patient-centric planning principles.
  • Introduce innovations in healthcare architecture, including smart hospital concepts, sustainability, and digital health integration.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture (B.Arch/M.Arch); certification in healthcare planning preferred.
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in healthcare or hospital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare design guidelines (NABH, FGI, AIA, JCI).
  • Proficiency in CAD, Revit, and healthcare planning tools.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively across disciplines.
