Section Incharge - Mechanical - Scrap Segregation Plant - Copper

Purpose/Objective

To oversee the mechanical maintenance and operational reliability of all equipment within the scrap segregation plant. This role ensures the plant’s mechanical systems function efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all standards, contributing to uninterrupted production targets.

Key Responsibilities of Role

- Maintenance management: Lead and manage the mechanical maintenance team to execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules, ensuring the availability and reliability of all plant machinery, including conveyors, balers, shredders, and other segregation equipment. - Troubleshooting and repair: Oversee troubleshooting and repair activities for mechanical breakdowns, analyzing root causes to minimize downtime and prevent recurrence. - Safety and compliance: Ensure the team adheres to all safety protocols and regulations for maintenance work. Lead accident investigations and implement corrective actions to eliminate hazards. - Spare parts and inventory management: Plan for and manage the inventory of spare parts and consumables for all mechanical equipment. Coordinate with the purchase department to procure necessary materials. - Team development: Supervise, train, and appraise the performance of mechanical technicians and engineers to ensure they are skilled and knowledgeable. - Reporting: Maintain accurate records and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on equipment performance, breakdowns, and maintenance activities.

Qualifications and Experience

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. - Experience: 5-8 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with a focus on heavy machinery or plant operations, preferably in the metals, mining, or recycling industry. - Skills: Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and manufacturing systems. Experience with a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) or SAP is a plus. - Certifications: Professional certification in maintenance or reliability engineering is advantageous.
