Sales Executive

Job Summary

The Sales Associate is the primary frontline representative responsible for providing exceptional customer service, accurately quoting material orders, and processing sales transactions. This role requires foundational knowledge of metal products, strict adherence to safety protocols, and coordination with the yard team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

A. Customer Service and Sales

• Frontline Engagement

  : Greet and assist all customers (walk-ins, phone, and electronic inquiries) promptly and professionally.

• Quoting and Pricing

  : Accurately prepare quotes for standard material orders, calculating linear footage, weight, and total costs, including any required cutting, loading, or processing fees.

• Product Consultation

  : Provide basic technical information and guidance to customers regarding common material types, grades, and standard dimensions (e.g., mild steel vs. stainless, angle vs. channel). Connect them to fabricators if required.

• Transaction Processing

  : Execute sales transactions accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system, process various payment types (cash, credit, credit accounts), and handle routine invoicing.

• Credit Account Liaison

  : Verify a customer’s available credit limit before processing large orders and notify the Store Manager or Sales Manager immediately if a transaction exceeds the limit.

B. Operational Coordination and Fulfillment

• Order Entry

  : Accurately note and maintain customer orders, creating clear cutting lists and pick tickets for the yard team. Maintain clear communication with the yard team using provided tools.

• Inventory Verification

  : Communicate frequently with the Yard Supervisor to confirm real-time stock availability, lead times for processed materials, and necessary adjustments to customer promises.

• Documentation

  : Ensure all customer paperwork, including sales receipts, gate pass, Bills of Lading (BOLs), and material certifications(where necessary), is correctly prepared prior to delivery or pickup.

• Load Check

  : Visually verify that the correct material and quantity are staged or loaded for the customer before signing off on the fulfillment ticket.

C. Safety and Compliance

• Rule Adherence

  : Strictly comply with all company safety rules and regulatory requirements (e.g., proper yard attire, restricted access zones).

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  : Utilize and maintain required PPE when assisting customers in the yard or near the cutting areas.

• Risk Communication

  : Report any unsafe practices, customer requests for unsafe loading, or immediate safety hazards to the Yard Supervisor or Store Manager immediately.

III. Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience

  : Minimum of 1 years of experience in a sales, customer service, or parts counter role, preferably within the construction, automotive, or industrial sector. Or at least 1 year of experience in the same field(Fabrication, Construction, Steel sales, etc.)

• Knowledge

  : Basic familiarity with construction materials, hardware, or metal types is highly desirable.

• Physical Demands

  : Must be able to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift/move objects up to 15kgs.

• Skills

  : Proficiency with basic computer systems, including Microsoft Office and prior experience with a modern POS/Inventory system is highly desirable. Strong mathematical skills for quick and accurate calculations of weight and length.
