Job Description

Job Title: Safety Officer (HVAC / MEP Projects)


Job Purpose:


To ensure all safety procedures, statutory regulations, and company policies are followed during the execution of HVAC / MEP projects. The Safety Officer is responsible for creating a safe workplace, preventing accidents, conducting safety audits, and promoting a culture of health and safety awareness among all employees and subcontractors.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Health & Safety Compliance


• Implement and monitor safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with statutory regulations and company standards.

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO, and local safety regulations applicable to HVAC / MEP projects.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety codes and legal requirements.


2. Site Safety Management


• Conduct daily site inspections to identify potential hazards and unsafe practices.

• Enforce the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) across the site.

• Monitor high-risk activities such as lifting, working at heights, confined space entry, electrical works, and hot works.


3. Training & Awareness


• Conduct safety induction for new employees, subcontractors, and visitors.

• Organize toolbox talks and refresher safety training sessions.

• Promote a culture of safety-first attitude among workers.


4. Incident / Accident Management


• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare reports with root cause analysis.

• Recommend corrective and preventive measures.

• Maintain proper documentation of all incidents.


5. Documentation & Reporting


• Prepare daily / weekly safety reports and submit to project/site management.

• Maintain statutory safety registers, permits, and checklists.

• Ensure compliance with client HSE reporting requirements.


6. Emergency Preparedness


• Ensure fire-fighting equipment, first-aid kits, and emergency response systems are in place and functional.

• Conduct mock drills and emergency evacuation training.


Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, OSHA standards, and local statutory requirements.

• Familiarity with HVAC, MEP, and construction site activities.

• Good communication and leadership skills to enforce safety standards.

• Ability to train and motivate employees and subcontractors on safety practices.

• Analytical skills for risk assessment and accident investigation.


Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma / Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Civil preferred).

• Certified in Industrial Safety / NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA (preferred).

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in HVAC / MEP / Construction industry.

• Knowledge of ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 systems is an advantage.

• HSE Manager / Project Manager

• Project Sites / Office (as required)
