Role Position Overview

The Safety EHS Manager will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining a robust Environment, Health & Safety management system across the PET and Can filling operations. This role ensures compliance with local regulations and global standards while fostering a proactive safety-first culture. The incumbent will lead all EHS programs, audits, and training initiatives to safeguard people, processes, and the planet in alignment with the companys sustainability vision.

Key Responsibilities

  1. EHS Strategy & Governance

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the site EHS management system in line with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and corporate standards.
  • Align plant-level safety and sustainability initiatives with global EHS strategy.
  • Establish EHS KPIs, track performance, and report progress to management.
  1. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure 100% compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements under the Factories Act, Pollution Control Board, Boiler Act, and Hazardous Waste Rules.
  • Maintain all licenses, consents, and environmental clearances.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, HAZOP/HAZID studies, and safety inspections.
  • Develop mitigation plans for identified risks, including fire safety, chemical handling, and confined space operations.
  1. Safety Operations & Incident Management

  • Oversee all safety programs for PET and Can filling lines including machine guarding, LOTO, PPE, and safe work permits.
  • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe acts; conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain records of all incidents and lead monthly EHS review meetings.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to ensure safe startup/shutdown procedures.
  1. Environmental Management

  • Monitor and control waste, emissions, and effluents to meet environmental standards.
  • Drive energy conservation and water management programs in alignment with sustainability goals.
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring (air, water, noise) and submit reports to relevant authorities.
  • Promote circular economy initiatives recycling, reuse, and responsible waste disposal.

  1. Emergency Preparedness & Response

  • Develop and implement Emergency Response Plans (ERP) for fire, chemical spill, and natural disasters.
  • Conduct regular mock drills, evacuation exercises, and first aid training.
  • Maintain liaison with local fire departments, hospitals, and government agencies.
  1. Training & Safety Culture Development

  • Design and deliver comprehensive EHS induction and refresher training programs.
  • Build a behaviour-based safety (BBS) culture through continuous engagement and recognition programs.
  • Empower supervisors and employees to take ownership of safety at all levels.
  1. Audits, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead internal and external EHS audits; ensure timely closure of observations.
  • Prepare and submit monthly EHS performance dashboards and compliance reports.
  • Benchmark EHS practices against global standards and introduce new safety innovations.

Candidate Profile

  • Education: B.E. B. Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering with Post Diploma Degree in Industrial Safety, ADIS (recognized under Factories Act).
  • Experience: Minimum 12 - 15 years in EHS management in beverage, FMCG, or process manufacturing industries.
  • Certifications: ISO 45001 ISO 14001 Lead Auditor preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage contractor safety, conduct audits, and maintain statutory compliance.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Factories Act, Fire & Safety Regulations, Environmental Laws, Pollution Control regulations, and Hazardous Waste Management Rules.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, analytical ability, crisis management, communication skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred Background: Hands-on experience managing EHS in high-speed beverage filling or packaging plants.
