Purchase Assistant

The main purpose of this role is to support the Purchase Department in acquiring raw materials, consumables, mechanical/electrical spares, and services necessary for the efficient operation of the rolling mill. Your responsibilities will include placing orders on time, coordinating with vendors, managing documentation, and monitoring inventory levels. You will be responsible for purchase operations by preparing purchase orders, obtaining and comparing quotations, and negotiating prices with suppliers. Maintaining accurate purchase records and documentation will also be part of your tasks. Additionally, you will need to identify and establish relationships with reliable suppliers, maintain a vendor database, and ensure timely delivery of materials by following up regularly. In terms of inventory coordination, you will work closely with the stores department to monitor stock levels and reorder materials as needed. It will be essential to prevent both overstocking and stockouts by ensuring timely procurement. Compliance with company policies and ISO standards in all procurement activities is crucial, as well as assisting in audit preparation and documentation. Furthermore, you will provide logistics support by tracking and managing the transportation of materials from suppliers, coordinating with transporters, and resolving delivery issues. The key skills required for this role include basic knowledge of rolling mill equipment and industrial supplies, strong negotiation and communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems like SAP/Tally. Being able to multitask effectively and work well under pressure is also important. The ideal candidate should have a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, or Engineering, with an additional certification in materials management considered a plus. A minimum of 13 years of experience in an industrial purchase/procurement role, preferably within steel or manufacturing industries, is required. This is a full-time position that will primarily involve on-site work at the plant location, with occasional visits to local suppliers and vendors.,
