Project Engineer

Job Description/ Job Responsibilities:-

The Job post demands a ship design (basic or detail or production), familiarization with conversions, and retrofit-related design for ocean-going marine vessels and offshore structures. It is required for the candidate to be able to create task breakup, manage project communication keep account of project activities, and monitor project parameters for Ship related conversion and retrofits. The job profile requires an understanding of ship-related design processes, and planning including scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination with external parties. The main role would be to follow established Project execution practices of the organization and act as a project engineer as well as manager for all conversion/retrofit/new built related design works and ensure that the project is completed within acceptable quality tolerance, schedule, and budgeted cost.

The responsibility will include:

1. Understanding the design requirement of a conversion/retrofit/new build job scope from the client.

2. Segregate the job scope into various departments such as Concept Design, Stability Assessment, Structure Design, Basic Machinery Design, and Detailed Design (Structures, Piping, Outfitting).

3. Allocate the job to each department in discussion with team leads at the start of the project as well as weekly basis.

4. Monitor the health of the project in terms of quality, technical correctness, schedule, manhours, etc. It is required the candidate should know Naval Architectural principles and working knowledge of the Ship’s machinery and piping system and ability to learn. The work will involve regular interaction with internal design teams, clients, class, regulatory bodies, shipyards, and owners.

A good communication skill and good technical knowledge is desired.

Project Coordination

Design Profile.

• Basic Engineering calculation related to Naval Architecture/Marine Design.
• Ship Design (Naval Arch calculation) – New and Conversions/Retrofits.
• Good understanding of the engineering and fabrication aspects of a design and how the design will be realized.
• Design innovation and Quality Checking.

Qualification -

Naval Architect /Mechanical (B. Tech) with 2-4 years of design experience in a reputed design firm, classification society, etc.

Good practical knowledge of actual retrofit, new build design, and installation.
