Job Description

You will be responsible for project engineering coordination for the department at Vogt Power International (VPI), a business unit of Babcock Power. Your main duties will include project development, execution, review and approval of requisitions, and review of bought-out equipment technical evaluations. As the Project Engineer, you will need to ensure engineering schedules, provide engineering man-hour forecasts, and manage engineering budgets on assigned projects. Additionally, you will act as the technical manager of the project and communicate technical issues with the Project Manager and the Customer. This role may involve customer visits, support for project kick-off meetings, and site walk downs as necessary for projects. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage the technical aspect of the assigned projects during contract execution - Provide on-site support to vendors and manufacturing to ensure project success - Understand and interpret specification requirements to ensure compliance during project execution **Customer Liaison:** - Serve as the lead technical contact for the customer on assigned projects - Formulate and present all RFIs to the customer for quick resolution - Advise the customer on impacts of change requests **Scheduling, Forecasting, and Budget Analysis:** - Maintain project engineering schedules for all assigned projects - Develop and maintain project man-hour forecasts - Report progress to upper management and provide recovery plans for delays **Document Control:** - Manage the Document Control Automation Program (DCAP) for the project - Process all incoming vendor and customer documents - Set up and manage the Master Document List (MDL) of customer submittals **Administrative:** - Develop and coordinate project O&M manual as required - Conduct and maintain meeting minutes for various meetings - Collaborate with other Project Engineers to improve departmental cost, quality, or efficiency **Sales/Innovation:** - Represent the Engineering Department internally and externally - Facilitate design improvements/innovation projects based on customer inputs - Review sales proposals, RFQs, proposal schedules, and technical reports **Qualification Required:** - Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical, chemical, or metallurgical Engineering or closely related field - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills - Knowledge of company standards and applications - Working knowledge of HRSG or boiler operations, design philosophy, and application details - Minimum five (5) years of related industry experience - Valid passport and willingness to travel when required Please note the additional detail that this role requires a preparedness to visit Thailand to train for a period of 6 months to 1 year.
