1. Qualification

Mandatory

• Diploma in Mechanical / Metallurgy / Production / Tool & Die Engineering.
• Minimum experience of 8 years in aluminium extrusion production operations.

Preferred

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical / Metallurgy / Production.
• Candidates from aluminium extrusion plants using 600T–1500T presses, ageing ovens, pullers, and handling complex dies.

2. Job Summary

The Production Incharge will oversee the end-to-end aluminium extrusion plant operations, ensuring uninterrupted production, optimum press efficiency, die life improvement, manpower productivity, and adherence to quality and safety systems.
The role demands strong technical expertise in extrusion parameters, billet-to-profile conversion, die behaviour, and defect reduction.

3. Detailed Responsibilities

A. Production Planning & Execution

• Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production targets based on orders & die availability.
• Ensure maximum OEE, press load optimization, and minimum changeover time.
• Maintain continuous workflow from billet to packing.

B. Extrusion Process Management

• Supervise critical stages: billet heating curve, die setting, butting, extrusion speed, quenching, puller tension, stretcher operation.
• Adjust process parameters as per alloy grades.
• Troubleshoot common extrusion defects.

C. Quality Control & Compliance

• Ensure dimensional tolerance as per customer drawings.
• Maintain mechanical property consistency.
• Work with QC to reduce rejection %, rework %, and ensure corrective & preventive actions.
• Maintain adherence to ISO 9001, safety norms, and factory audit systems.

D. Manpower Management

• Allocate manpower across extrusion shop floor.
• Conduct operator skill matrix evaluation and training.
• Maintain shift discipline, productivity, attendance, and safety adherence.

E. Maintenance Coordination

· Coordinate with maintenance team for preventive maintenance.

· Reduce press downtime and increase die life by monitoring preventive schedules.

F. Material & Die Management

• Maintain die loading schedules, die repairs, nitriding cycles, and die performance logs.
• Communicate raw material and consumable requirements with stores.

G. Safety & Statutory Adherence

• Enforce PPE usage and ensure compliance to TN Factory Act.
• Conduct weekly safety toolbox meetings.
• Monitor housekeeping as per 5S & lean manufacturing practices.

H. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare and update:
• Daily Production Report (DPR)
• Downtime Report
• Rejection Analysis
• Scrap & Yield Report
• Manpower Productivity Report
• Submit MIS to management daily/weekly/monthly.

4. Skills Required

• Deep understanding of aluminium extrusion parameters and die behaviour.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in press operations.
• Leadership and team-handling capability.
• Knowledge of Kaizen, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, OEE improvement.
• Good communication and production planning skills.
