Power Electronics Hardware Development Engineer

At LAT Aerospace, we’re building a clean-sheet Short Take-off and Landing (STOL) aircraft to transform regional air mobility in India. We’re looking for a Power Electronics Hardware Engineer to work on the design, development, and validation of power converter systems across both low-voltage and high-voltage aircraft architectures.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop DC-DC and DC-AC converter topologies tailored for electric propulsion and onboard systems.
• Architect both low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems across the aircraft platform.
• Collaborate with control engineers to support co-design of hardware and embedded control loops using Simulink/MATLAB/Plecs.
• Own schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, and thermal management of power electronic boards.
• Build and test initial hardware prototypes — from bench validation to integration on powertrain rigs.
• Validate power stages for electrical, thermal, and EMI/EMC performance; refine designs for manufacturability and reliability.
• Work closely with avionics, propulsion, and ground test teams for system-level integration and performance tuning.

What we're looking for

• Strong background in power converter design (DC-DC, DC-AC) and inverter architecture for EVs or aerospace platforms.
• Deep understanding of switching topologies, magnetics, thermal modeling, and EMI mitigation.
• Proficient with design tools: MATLAB, Simulink, Plecs, and circuit-level simulation.
• Experience with hands-on prototyping, debugging, and testing of high-voltage and high-current power systems.
• Familiarity with safety, redundancy, and protection mechanisms for flight-critical hardware.
• Bonus: experience integrating power electronics in aircraft or automotive propulsion systems.
