Plastic Sector Expert

About the Role:

We are looking for a motivated and skilled Plastic Sector Expert (Young Professional) with a strong background in plastics engineering, polymer technology, and plastic recycling to support government and industry-led development projects.

The candidate will work on improving manufacturing efficiency, waste management practices, and sustainability in plastic value chains by engaging with MSMEs, technical institutes, and industry stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in implementing projects related to plastic processing, polymer product development, recycling technologies, and sustainable plastics
• Facilitate capacity building, skilling programs, and technical training in plastic manufacturing, quality control, and waste management
• Work closely with MSMEs, entrepreneurs, cluster-based industries, and technical training partners
• Provide technical inputs on molding processes, extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, and recycling methods
• Support government initiatives in the plastics and polymers sector, including data collection, reporting, and monitoring project outcomes
• Promote adoption of eco-friendly alternatives, plastic reuse, and circular economy models

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field with minimum 5 years of work experience
• OR
• Master’s degree in relevant field with minimum 3 years of experience in the plastics or manufacturing sectorPreferred Certifications (Add-On – Bonus in Evaluation):
• Certificate in Plastic Processing Technology
• Certificate in Polymer Engineering
• Certificate in Recycling & Waste Management
• Certificate in Quality Control in Plastics
• Certificate in Sustainable Plastics or Circular Economy

Preferred Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of experience working on government or donor-funded projects
• Minimum 1 year of experience in industrial development, production processes, or cluster development in the plastics domain

Desired Skills:

• Strong understanding of plastics production technologies, material testing, and compliance standards (BIS, ISO)
• Familiarity with recyclable plastic materials, biodegradable alternatives, and plastic waste management
• Excellent communication, coordination, and project documentation skills
• Ability to travel and work in field locations, industrial areas, and MSME clusters

Mandatory Supporting Documents (for Evaluation):

• 'Experience Proof – Minimum 3–5 years of relevant work experience
• Certification Proofs – Related to plastic processing, recycling, polymer engineering
• Proof of Government Project Experience – At least 1 year
• Proof of Industrial Development Experience – At least 1 year
