Job Description

About the Role:

We are hiring a dynamic and passionate Young Professional – Handicraft & Textile Sector Expert to support the design, implementation, and monitoring of projects in the handicraft, handloom, and textile sector. The candidate will work closely with artisans, clusters, and government stakeholders to promote traditional crafts, enhance market linkages, and strengthen livelihoods in the sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support in handicraft, handloom, and textile-related projects, especially in rural and artisan-led clusters
  • Assist in planning and executing programs related to skill development, design intervention, cluster development, and entrepreneurship promotion
  • Engage with local artisans, weavers, cooperatives, and FPOs to support production quality, branding, and product diversification
  • Support capacity-building workshops and training sessions for artisans, designers, and producer groups
  • Coordinate with government departments, NGOs, exporters, and industry stakeholders for seamless program delivery
  • Ensure quality documentation, field reporting, and timely execution of deliverables

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design, Fashion Technology, Handicrafts, Rural Development, or related fields with minimum 5 years of relevant work experience

OR

  • Master’s degree in the relevant field with minimum 3 years of experience

Preferred Certifications (Desirable – Adds Evaluation Marks):

  • Certificate in Handloom Technology
  • Certificate in Fashion & Textile Design
  • Certificate in Natural Dyeing and Block Printing
  • Certificate in Artisan Entrepreneurship / Rural Business Management
  • Craft Cluster Development Executive Training Certificate
  • Export Management for Handicrafts Certificate

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working on long-term government sector projects
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in industrial development related to handicrafts, handloom, or textile clusters

Desired Skills:

  • Understanding of traditional craft techniques, raw materials, and artisan business models
  • Knowledge of cluster development, design innovation, market linkage, and export documentation
  • Experience in working with artisan communities, SHGs, or NGOs
  • Strong project coordination, communication, and reporting skills
  • Ability to travel to field locations and engage with community stakeholders

Documents Required (for Evaluation):

  • Experience Certificates / Work Orders – Showing 3–5 years of relevant experience
  • Relevant Certifications – From authorized institutes (if applicable)
  • Proof of Experience in Government Projects – Minimum 1 year
  • Proof of Industrial Development Experience – Minimum 1 year
