Plant Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Biomedical Waste Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a biomedical waste treatment facility. This includes supervision of plant staff, daily operations, safety compliance, equipment maintenance, and reporting as per regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities: Operational Oversight:

• Supervise daily operations of biomedical waste treatment and disposal processes.
• Ensure proper segregation, handling, transportation, and treatment of biomedical waste as per guidelines.
• Monitor autoclave, incinerator, shredders, and other treatment equipment for safe functioning.
• Maintain records of incoming waste, processing, and disposal.

Staff Supervision & Training:

• Lead and supervise plant operators, loaders, and support staff.
• Conduct regular training on safety, handling, and emergency protocols.
• Ensure that workers use PPE and follow safety guidelines at all times.

Compliance & Safety:

• Ensure operations are compliant with CPCB/SPCB and Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules.
• Maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
• Respond promptly to any violations or accidents, and implement corrective measures.

• Maintenance & Equipment:
• Coordinate routine and preventive maintenance of machinery and plant equipment.
• Report mechanical issues and assist in repairs or scheduling service.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly logs related to waste processing.
• Prepare reports for internal use and regulatory authorities.
• Assist in audits and regulatory inspections.

Qualifications:

• Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering, Waste Management, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of experience in waste management or plant operations, preferably biomedical.
• Certifications (Preferred): Training in hazardous waste management, fire safety, and first aid.

Skills Required:

• Knowledge of biomedical waste management rules and environmental compliance.
• Ability to lead a team and enforce safety protocols.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with plant machinery.
• Strong record-keeping and reporting skills.
• Ability to work in a high-risk, regulated environment.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to medical and hazardous waste materials.
• Shift-based work, including weekends or holidays if required.
