Birla White is White Cement division of UltraTech Cement Limited and is a P&L centre. In India, BW is leader in White Cement as well as main Value Added Product Wall Care Putty with WC installed capacity of 680,000 MT per annum and Wall Care Putty capacity of 8,50,000 MT per annum. Business has plans to increase White Cement capacity by another 7, 20,000 MT and Wall Care Putty capacity by another 4, 50,000 MT per annum. Birla White plant is fully integrated and automated processing. The plant is accredited with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, SA 8000, and OHSAS 18001. BW sells WC & WCP in multipack variants of 1 KG, 5KG, 20 KG, 25 KG, 40 KG and 50 KG.In White Cement category, there is only one major competitor M/s JK White Cement with BW commanding a Market Share of 52.3% whereas in cement based putty, there are multiple competitors across organized and unorganized sector with BW commanding a market share of over 45.5%. Over the years, WCP has grown to become major contributor to White Cement Industry and is contributing 60%-65% of the total revenues. However with Paint majors (Asian, Berger, Nerolac etc.) becoming a potent force in WCP market, it is becoming extremely difficult to maintain the high margins the industry has achieved in the past.Major Challenges
- Coordinating the process of maintaining Healthy and Congenial relationship between management and worker.
- Coordination with Different department for day today contract Labour supply.
- Planning and coordinating the implementation of various Rural Development activities in surrounding villages.
- Complying the various Statutory and non statutory welfare facilities.

KRA1 Contract Labour ManagementFacilitate and ensure management of all contractors &contract workers as per contract labour (Regulations&abolitions act) *Ensuring that the entire contractor should follow the rules and regulation under contract Labour Act, 1970 &Rules 1972.
- Ensure all legal compliance under CL act, Bonus act, Minimum wages act related to contract labour.
- Ensuring 100% deduction of PF of all the contract labor working in factory/ colony Premises.
- Ensuring the only insured labor can get entry in the factory/ colony premises.
- Distribution & Controlling of monthly gate pass to the entire contractor and their Labor.
- To ensure the license of the contractor who are engaging 20 or more labor and issuing of Form V under Contract Labour rules 1972.
- To ensure safety training and availability of PPE--s with individual labor before entering in factory premises.
- To prepare provision of contract labour liability (Gratuity,Bonus,Medical & Safety incentive) on Quarterly/Six monthly/yearly basis.
- To ensure PF deduction, collect monthly challan ECR and also check License, Approval, Insurance and timely wages distribution to Contract Labour.
- Implementation of Agreement benefit through contractor.
- To insure compliance of records and register follow the rules and regulation under contract Labour Act, 1970
KRA2 Welfare
Ensure proper implementation of all the welfare activities for workmen * Indenting &Distribution of Uniform, rainkot, Safety shoes, Sweets, Gift items as per eligibility.
- Conduct satisfaction survey for On roll workmen & Contract labour and action against findings.
- Employee engagement by organization of Sports &cultural activities two times in a year for Staff, worker and family members.
- Assist in worker club & Sarswati Mahila mandal activities.
- Medi-claim facility to Onroll workmen.
- Preparation &submission of Ex-gratia/Bonus amount for all permanent employees to accounts department
- Distribute payment of Ex-gratia
- Coordinate for implementation of all celebrations
&functions.
- Shut down arrangement as and when required.
KRA3 Statutory Compliance
To comply all statutory requirements under Industrial laws as applicable in the unit. * Fulfillment of statutory compliances under various Labor laws.
- Timely submission of returns related to the Labour laws.
- Assitt in Preparation of Quarterly &Half yearly report &submission to the appropriate authority under Factories
Act 1947 &contract Labor (R &A) Act 1970, &rules 1972.
- Conductance of Statutory meetings (Like Works committee meeting under ID Act1948 Sec. 2A)
&Factories Act.
- Planning &Regulation of Half Yearly Medical Examination of All the Permanent Staff, Permanent Workmen &Contract Labor. (Factories Act, 1948)
- Preparation of relevant details of superannuation (for eligible employees)
- Approval with concerned authority &submission of superannuation details to accounts department (for eligible employees)
- Check &Scrutinize PF documents related to contract labour.
- Submission of records of GPA Policy for all contractual labour.
- Submission of records of WC Policy for all contract labor.
- Compliance of Apprentice engagement and rules their under.
- Comply the provision of Standard SA-800
KRA4 Industrial Relations
Plan and coordinate of all meetings with Union , implement the agreement &coordinate disciplinary proceedings for maintaining harmonious Industrial Relations * Regular meeting with the union representatives
- Quarterly meeting of works committee
- Recording the minutes of the meeting and regular follow up.
- Assist in VRS details preparation and implementation for contract Labour.
- Assist Management to resolve day to day IR grievances.
KRA5 Salary Facilitation
Preparation of Salary of Staff (Manufacturing &Marketing) in compliance with all statutory obligations &submission to accounts department to ensure high standards of customer satisfactionAttendance &Leave AdministrationAdminister employees attendance&leave with accuracy &time so as to enhance customer satisfaction for all the staff employees. * Monitor Smooth Generate of monthly Labour supply bills in system.
- Update &compile monthly attendance for Contractor labour.
- Ensure proper encashment of leave.
- Monitor accurate & timely updating of Leave records of all contract labour.
- Monitoring of OT /Miss punching//Accurate &timely updating for Contract labour.
- Ensure distribution of salary slips to all Contract labour on time.

KRA6 Quality Systems
Organize and implement ISO, EMS, WCM systems in the area of operation through the involvement of people for the improvement of quality standards and productivity Identify &get rectify.

- Analyze accidents/near miss cases &take corrective action.
