Operations and Maintenance Engineer

TSHD Operations & Maintenance supports the superintendent in managing the operation and upkeep of trailing suction hopper dredgers. This role is vital for ensuring efficient, safe, and quality execution of dredging activities through effective maintenance, planning, and compliance with safety standards.

• Maintenance and Equipment Management:

  The role involves executing and assisting in periodic maintenance of dredger equipment, planning spare parts availability, attending to breakdowns promptly, and ensuring standby subassemblies are overhauled and ready. Quality checks for incoming spares and adherence to store SOPs are also key responsibilities.

• Operational Planning and Execution:

  The team member assists in production planning, monitors production data, and ensures efficient and safe dredging operations through effective time management and process control. They also handle vessel movements, crew management, and liaise with shipping agents and external agencies to ensure smooth task execution.

• Safety and Compliance:

  Ensuring compliance with port and site safety norms, conducting project risk assessments, managing emergency preparedness and drills, and maintaining safety MIS are integral to the role.

• Administrative and Resource Management:

  The role includes progress appraisal through daily, weekly, and monthly reports, SAP-related tasks such as raising purchase requisitions, SES creations, invoice booking, and managing bunkers and fresh water supplies to vessels with optimal resource use and minimal downtime.

Key Accountabilities

• To execute / assist in periodic maintenance of equipment installed on dredgers.
• Planning availability of spares and services required for the routines, well in advance.
• Attend breakdowns and rectify them at the minimum possible time.
• To ensure all standby subassemblies to be in overhauled condition.
• To carry out quality check for received spares in store. Follow all standard SOP’s for inward and outward of materials from store
• Assist superintendent for production planning, execution planning, production data monitoring, appraisal and control. Execute all dredging tasks efficiently and safely through effective time management, planning, process efficiency and product/service quality.
• Compliances with port and site safety norms, Project risk assessment and safe execution, Emergency Preparedness & drills, Safety MIS
• Progress appraisal on Daily & Weekly production and consumption data, Monthly MIS reports, SAP related tasks, Raising Purchase requisition, SES creations and invoices booking.
• Bunkers and fresh water supplies to the vessel with optimum use of resources and minimum downtime.
• Vessel movements planning, crew management and liasoning with Shipping Agents and other external agencies for smooth execution of underlined tasks.
