Job Description:
We are seeking an expert-level Node.js Backend Developer to join our engineering team and support a microservices-based platform used by enterprise clients in the financial industry. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate independently within a structured development environment.
The candidate must be available for collaboration until at least 1:30 PM EST (working hours: 8 AM–5 PM EST).
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain backend microservices using Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, Mongoose, and Redis
Build, optimize, and support REST APIs within a highly scalable microservices architecture
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to performance, data, or infrastructure
Write and maintain automated tests (Mocha/Chai) to ensure stability and quality
Collaborate with the engineering team using GitLab and project-tracking tools such as JIRA or YouTrack
Use Postman (or equivalent tools) for API testing and validation
Work daily in a Linux/MacOS development environment
Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning
Ensure backend systems are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with industry best practices
Required Qualifications
5+ years of backend development experience with Node.js and Express.js
Strong experience implementing and maintaining REST APIs
5+ years working with MongoDB, Mongoose, and Redis (or other NoSQL systems like Couchbase/CouchDB)
5+ years working in structured environments with GitLab + JIRA/YouTrack
2+ years hands-on experience with automated testing (Mocha/Chai)
2+ years using Postman or similar tools
5+ years experience working in Linux and MacOS environments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
