Network Specialist

The Network Specialist role involves a blend of customer support and network operations. Your main responsibility will be hands-on troubleshooting using a variety of network devices and tools. You should be prepared to challenge yourself against high standards, not just technologically, but in all aspects of your work. To qualify for this position, you should have a degree or diploma in computer science or equivalent education. A minimum of 2 years of hands-on network experience is desired. You must have a strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, cabling, internet protocols (BGP, ISIS, and OSFP), firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers. Additionally, advanced knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, and Foundry hardware and software is required, along with expertise in Linux/Unix and Windows environments. Certifications with Cisco and/or Juniper (CCNA/CCNP/JNCIA) are preferred. In this role, you will need to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate self-motivation, adaptability, and quick learning abilities. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as strong oral and written communication skills. Customer service skills are also crucial, along with the flexibility to work different shifts, including overnight shifts. Your responsibilities will include providing First Call Support to co-location and network customers, monitoring network health, responding to event alarms, analyzing network traffic patterns, responding to security issues, assisting with provisioning, implementation, and supporting customers. You will work with Cisco, Juniper, and Foundry router/switches, Netscreen and Juniper firewalls, and Foundry load balancers. Collaboration with the network engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve advanced network issues is also part of your role.,
