Job Description

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


  1. Agri-Business Planning



  • Recommend and implement Annual Meetings for the year to achieve the set targets and increase the profitability of the Agri business for Bajaj General Insurance.

  • Analyze data derived from Districts and Zones to forecast claims capacity

  • Along with the zonal and state heads decide where to be present for the Crop cutting and facilitate Crop Cutting in areas where the exposure is more

  • Contribute to developing the strategy through Annual Meetings for the crop insurance business to increase reach and maximize revenue generation

  • Conduct manpower planning and team allocation where a tender is won

  • Work with the brand team to design banners and posters for the marketing campaigns for farmers, Govt. officials and bankers

  • Print and press liaising through Brand team and Corporate communications team to respond to and promote brand and image



  1. Business Development and Tender Management



  • Use data and intelligence from the sales team to participate in the tender

  • Liaising with the state and central government authorities, before/post tender and subsidy payment

  • Understand Central and State schemes - objectives, budgets, target population etc. Build relationships with stakeholders.

  • Regularly interact with government officials. Try to bring tender guidelines as close with Revised Operational Guidelines

  • Monitor and guide team on government tender requests/ RFP for insurance programs and be present for required meetings to get tender details.

  • Follow up with government officials to get clarifications on expectations and to collect data on weather, historical yields, crop-wise sum insured, areas sown etc.

  • Share all available data with the Underwriting team. Respond to any further clarifications and data needed for the tender. Receive final tender/ bid to be submitted by Bajaj General Insurance.

  • Participate in the bidding process by submitting quotes and supporting documents. Respond to any questions on the submitted tender.

  • Interact with the BAGIC legal team for vendor agreement



  1. Sales Management and Profitability



  • Understand the terms and conditions of the tender and accordingly implement the business in the said location where the tender has been won

  • Ensuring that there is compliance of the process as per the terms and conditions of the tender

  • Conduct Farm level surveys - to assess actual losses. Engage vendors for surveys, where required. Ensure payment of claims as per agreed calculations.

  • Lead team to participate in critical meetings with the district manager, state anchor and other relevant stakeholders to understand the operations and undercurrents

  • Monitor and guide district head at Bajaj General to educate and facilitate the banks to insure 100% of the loanee farmers

  • Monitor the enrolment of farmers for insurance and documentation of the same and facilitate booking for both loanee and non-loanee farmers

  • Work with IT and Ops for development and modifications of processes as required

  • Work with Operations team to ensure issuance of policies and monitor reports for each area and insurance unit.

  • Communicating with banks on claims

  • Communication to any state head or government official for resolution of issues faced

  • Drive the call center in terms of training, deployment and quality checks

  • Envisaging and executing the marketing strategy of company for crop insurance



  1. Operational Review



  • Participate in periodic reviews with supervisor and own team to track progress, anticipate and mitigate issues and solve complex problems

  • Evaluate productivity of visits, manpower, support activities

  • Define and redefine entire Agri business booking process

  • Keeping a complete record of compliance related actions and follow it up regularly in order to avoid any penalty that may be imposed on company

  • Liaison with IT for developments of adequate systems related to Agri business



  1. Team Management



  • Participate in recruitment process to identify the right talent for various positions within the function

  • Conduct training needs identification and drive adequate participation of team in training programs

  • Establish individual performance expectations and evaluation metrics, and regularly review individual performance
