Motor & Generator Design Engineer

Gurgaon | Full-Time | Core Team

Motor & Generator Design Engineer


What you’ll do

  • Design high-efficiency electrical generators to convert engine shaft power into electrical power with minimal losses.
  • Develop lightweight, compact propulsion motors with high torque density and excellent cooling performance.
  • Conduct electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical simulations using industry-standard tools.
  • Support engine–generator mechanical integration, including mounts, couplings, and cooling interfaces.
  • Provide machine models and electrical characteristics to the controls team for torque/speed estimation.
  • Lead prototyping, supplier coordination, component fabrication, and bench testing.
  • Perform efficiency mapping, vibration analysis, thermal characterization, and performance validation.
  • Maintain documentation: CAD models, design reports, test data, and revision history.


What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of experience in electric machine design (PMSM, IPM, axial-flux, radial-flux, or generators).
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic design, thermal design, rotor/stator architecture, and lightweight structures.
  • Proficiency with simulation tools such as Motor-CAD, Ansys Maxwell, JMAG, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with high-speed generator design, rotor dynamics, magnet selection, lamination design, and cooling methods.
  • Basic understanding of motor control principles (FOC, torque production, back-EMF behaviour).
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping, instrumenting, and testing electric machines.
