Job Description

Position: Mother Teacher

Location: Euro International School, Sector 84, Gurugram

Role overview

The Mother Teacher will act as a nurturing, guiding, and supportive female educator focused on the early-years / kindergarten / primary wing of the school. She will combine the warmth of a “mother-figure” with professional teaching skills to foster a safe, caring, and developmentally rich environment for young children. She will work closely with class teachers, parents and the school student-support team to ensure holistic growth of each child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a warm, secure and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Act as a primary ‘care-giver’ in the classroom: attending to children’s emotional, social and physical well-being in addition to academic growth.
  • Collaborate with class/subject teachers to plan age-appropriate lessons, activities and routines that encourage learning through play, exploration and interaction.
  • Observe children’s development (social, emotional, cognitive, physical) and maintain records / portfolios of progress; communicate with parents/guardians about their child’s growth.
  • Implement and support health/hygiene routines (hand-washing, snack time, rest time etc.) and ensure classroom safety and cleanliness.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, social skills, empathy, sharing and collaborative play among children.
  • Support children during transitions (entry, breaks, outdoor play, dismissal) and help reduce separation anxiety or adjustment issues for young learners.
  • Liaise with parents/guardians: hold informal check-ins, share observations, suggest ways to support the child at home, promote positive parent-school partnership.
  • Work with special-needs support or counselling team when required to support children who need additional help, and provide early detection of learning or behavioural concerns.
  • Participate in school events, parent-teacher meetings, staff meetings, professional development sessions, and contribute to school culture and ethos.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduate degree (B.A./B.Sc./B.Com) from a recognised university; preferably also a certificate in Early Childhood Education or Nursery Teacher Training (NTT) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a pre-primary / kindergarten / early-years setting is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — able to build rapport with young children, parents and colleagues alike.
  • Warm, caring, patient and empathetic personality — someone who children feel comfortable with.
  • Good organisational skills: capable of planning daily routines, maintaining records/portfolios and working with the teaching team.
  • Understanding of child-development (age 3-6) and appropriate learning/play strategies.
  • Ability to handle emergencies, maintain classroom safety, work calmly under pressure.
  • Familiarity with digital tools or willingness to adapt to them (for record-keeping, communication, etc.).
  • Ability to work as part of a team, support school ethos and contribute positively to the school’s mission of “holistic development”.

Work Conditions

  • Full-time position based at the school, Monday to Saturday (or as per school schedule).
  • Shift timings in line with the school’s pre-primary/primary hours.
  • Collaboration with teaching staff, school support staff, and parents.
  • Opportunity to impact young lives positively and grow professionally within the school.

Key Attributes We Value

  • A nurturing attitude combined with professional discipline.
  • Commitment to every child’s overall growth — not just academic.
  • Adaptability: comfortable working with young children at different developmental stages.
  • A proactive communicator: keeps parents and colleagues informed, brings early concerns to attention.
  • Reflective practitioner: tracks children’s progress, adapts strategies, continuously improves.
